mine locked all the way as well but I think the air pressure was so strong that it broke the plastic clips that lock the back end down to the side rails. once the back clips come out, the spring loaded side rails just pop up to allow the rest of the cover to unlock.
I could see that. The one I have has metal clips and a metal locking channel. Plastic on a tonneau cover is crazy, hopefully there isn’t others ones out there like that.

Kind of a thing to make a discussion. Anyone believe there is a "must do" upgrade to these trucks? Personally, I think the bilstein 5100 rear shock upgrade is a must on the aluminum trucks. It takes the bounce out of the rear end and makes a world of difference in the drive. Anyone think of others?

I advocate for people to get a decent bug / rock deflector for the leading edge of the hood. Paint doesn't so much pit with impacts, but it chips out in large pieces on the aluminium. Getting some beefy protection on there is a must, and I think the style I got looks pretty good on there.

Ive read some long-distance reviews where people say those 'aeroskin' type spoilers rub against the truck. Any issues so far?

    Love the color.

Did a oil change on the wife’s navigator, didn’t want to wait and do the drop off with ford. Plus they didn’t answer the phone.
Cost me 80ish, but I switched to synthetic.

None, and because the deflector is double sided foam taped right onto the hood, there is zero movement, so that will never happen.

Out of curiosity, did you do just the deflector or with a 3M wrap?

I had the backflip on my last truck and went with the revolver x2 on this truck because I found myself folding it up on the regular and I absolutely hated not being able to see out the back window. I feel like this one won’t last as long and I don’t think I could walk on it like I did on the backflip.

I had the Revolver X2 on one of my trucks once and that was enough. while driving on highway 22, it was a pretty windy day like usual there and the cover popped open and lifted up into the air almost flipping forward and hitting my roof. it slammed back down into the truck bed broke the clips that lock it in place. I was able to get it tied down and made it home but ended up replacing it with a flip style.
Interesting I went from an Undercover Flex Tri-Fold on my old truck to a Revolver X2 on my new one and I love the revolver. It seems no more or less rigid when driving on the highway with a strong crosswind but does have the added benefit of allowing me to see out of my back window when it's in the fully open position and not leaking water in a car wash

Lots of our field trucks have these plastic deflectors and most have paint worn off (usually at the far corners) when they are going to the auction.. 200k or 5 years old..

That is so weird. How is the paint being worn off? The whole thing is stuck on with doublesided tape the whole way around...nothing moves...I am confused as to how it could wear paint off. The standoff style that clips onto the hood, I can understand, but these...?

Usually the plastic wears through the tape and then the deflector can move and then it wears through the paint.

I am not saying this will happen on a regular everyday daily driven truck but on the field trucks which have heavy rough road usage, they definitely get paint wear from the deflector.

I have the same shape but mines the AVS 1 piece and stuck on with 3M. My hood after 2 years is pretty mint expect 2 small chips but my front bumpers a mess. I was on the fence with getting one of these because ive read reviews of them flying off but never wearing the paint, i only have one now because i got it for xmas.

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

I only know the 3.5 so I didn't want to comment that it was a "must have" on the 2.7 as well. Most engines benefit from a catch can setup. I run a Mishimoto which does an amazing job but its pretty small so I have to empty it on almost a daily basis if its cold outside (traps a LOT of water) but in the summer it'll go a week before it fills up. When I say small I mean tiny like smaller than a beer can. Probably 205ml capacity haha

Get rid of the shit factory rubber if you plan to "use" the truck. Still cant believe some of the rubber factory trucks come with. GM is the worst, but even with the Ford's I usually get KO2's or something 10ply similar before I pick it up. Just got my tune installed on the new truck, seems great so far!

On another note, the deals on the leftover 2019's is crazy! Been hunting for a single cab short box 4x4 with the 5.0 FX4, not very common unfortunately. I suppose with the facelift 2021 coming soon it may get even better if your not too picky on color/options.

Even on the Gen II 3.5 EB's? If they've got GDI and Multi-Port the back of the valves will be washed with fuel which should in theory reduce carbon deposits a fair bit. In my experience catch cans on a winter driven vehicle are a massive PITA and if they freeze up can wreak havoc.
