My 2 cents on tonneau cover:

    Tri-fold or bust.

Mine is only folded up if theres huge oversized stuff in the box anyways. So it looks dumb at that point no matter what.

Have yet to meet a tri-fold that doesn’t fuck up the C(?) pillar paint without some sort of modification while in the “up” position. And no, using the little rods and bungee cords is not the right solution, pain in the ass

The rods on the Undercover Flex work great. Have others had issues? I’ve had a quad pushing against the tonneau and it held up. The rolling hardcovers are nice too, for for 3/4 the price the tri-fold has been the better value

Yep the undercover flex option is pretty efficient, and the Bakflip also has the rods and pads to buffer. I have yet to see someone have paint damage personally

Maybe I'm unique, but I have stuff taller than the tonneau a fair bit in the summer.

Or maybe I'm justifying the cheapest option. I do that a lot. I'm a cheap plick

Trifold easy off in 3 minutes. Might want an extra pair of hands though.

I put mine up and rested it against the back of the truck. Cracked my 3rd break light. Fuck. Need to use the braces. No issue at highway speed

Yea if the look of the trifold bothers you it’s minutes to remove.

My paint looks fine from use in the up position with my MX4. Must be Ford paint.

Heck, with my non blue oval truck I don’t even see when up it with my rear mirror camera.

Im probably going to grab the cheapo gator roll up on amazon. Will report back once truck arrives. Going to have to rig up something to secure my tools in the box. Wont be keeping expensive tools in the box, just shovels, rakes, muck boots, extra oil, washer fluid, jumper cables, etc

Anyone have a VIN/build date yet? Curious how far out the build actually is.

I've never had any paint damage on 3 trucks with a tri-fold. I have a backrack on the current truck though.
I've had the brace rods break off though. At -30C the plastic bracket holding the rod ball in place snapped.
Lost one backflip to hail damage, and I've punctured holes in the HD aluminum bakflip covers before also.

We have about 20 2021 Ford's on order and the latest scheduled production dates we received last week show target production week of Feb 22, 2021. These are for F-150 Lariat's, quite loaded that were ordered early December. And we have a bunch more ordered similar time that still show "delayed build". I have been told that they are starting to catch up from being really behind.

For us non ballers, anyone have any good resources for the 5.4l 3v triton?

Obviously everything is a horror story about these engines, so i'd like to keep current on the maintenance (has full dealer history so far) and possibly get ahead on preventative stuff also.

Basically just be weary of chain noise, and replace when you get even a hint of it. Also go with the melling high volume oil pump. that apparently solves a ton of issues.

This guy knows all about it.

    Cheers!

Watched a couple of that guys vids, he seems to be the go-to guy for a lot of Ford folks

Joined the herd and ended up ordering from Cam Clark Ford.

This is the spec I went with. Today will be the last day I could change the order if anyone has any suggestions:

    Lead Foot - FX4, 502A
    B&O Sound System
    360 Camera
    20" Dark Alloy Wheels
    Power Deployable Running Boards
    Sunroof

    502A is really nice.

I would suggest the 50M interior work surface. Invoice cost is only $180. I should point out I was told this has been more popular than expected so builds with this have been delayed. Not sure if that is still an issue though but it was.

The power tailgate is really nice too but more money (60T - $720 invoice). But cool in the fact that if you lift the first bit, it will finish closing the tailgate for you.

Otherwise, you have a sweet set up there. You will like it.

I thought about the interior work surface but the truck will largely be a commuter for me and with the potential delays, I'm glad I didn't opt for it. As for the power tailgate, I don't think I'll use it enough to make it worth it so I went with the deployable running boards instead. This feature was really handy on my Denali, and getting the baby/wife in and out of truck will pay for itself after a couple of uses. I think the base Lariat does get power down though, so it's just the power up that I'm missing out on.
