What I really want is the ecoboost in the F250. Does that make me demented? Possibly.

Just turbo v8, quit messing around. Or market it as siamese turbo inline 4 if that makes it sound economical and green.

I drive a Tacoma, the interior isn’t that important, it’s more that if I was gonna drop 60K on a new truck it better be kinda skookum

agreed... the utility of the 6.2, 6.8 and 7.3 (though has roller issues) requires a very stout bottom end. That said, why not light-turbo one for the purpose of more consistent torque curve and air density loss? - maybe more effort than its worth.

I'm now at 250K on my 1st gen eco w/o any timing chain replacement (no issues yet... touch wood) - I did have issues with the oil return line, which was costly but overall the internals of the motor are still untouched and within parameters as per their last calibration check.

I change my oil every 5K km with full synth... touch wood I can keep it running for another hundy.

also 80% of the mileage is unloaded highway driving.

Thought I'd mention here that I did finally set up the "pro trailer backup assist" on my 2020 F150. I have the style that uses stickers, I guess the newer ones have a box you tie to the trailer? Anyway, it take probably 20 minutes to set up, and then you need a really long straight stretch of road to let it calibrate (no you can't do this in a parking lot, need 500 yards or so), but it's been worth it. Very handy to be able to "steer the trailer" with the knob on the dash. Once the trailer is going the right direction, you can let go of the knob and the truck will spin the steering wheel to make the trailer go straight. Seems like magic to this guy.

Doesn't work great in dappled sunlight, as the camera can't see the sticker properly I guess. But when it works, it's great. I am glad I have it set up.

Mentioned the system in a post in the RV tips thread:

Apparently since last time I owned a trailer I forgot how to back up. Took too many tries to get myself into that stall, and being extra deep (like your mom), it should have been easier to slide in (like your mom).
I should probably use the "pro-trailer backup assist" function my truck came with. I'm very obviously the intended audience.

What’s your top speed now in reverse with a trailer? Could make for an entertaining video.

I think the system has an override for fast speeds. I'm sure unread that somewhere. Can't recall what it is though. May do some testing.

But honestly, being able to back up straight without effort is pretty great. The whole system takes quite a bit of mental load off the driver. You can basically watch the trailer in your mirror and just worry about where you want the trailer and the truck does all sorts of adjustments without you worrying about it.

I'm the kind of guy who can get frustrated if it doesn't go well, so this is a nice feature.
