what would be the cross shopping trim for an F150 vs a Tundra TRD Offroad (SR, not Limited)? XLT FX4? Have a line on a pretty good price on a tundra but figured i should check..
STX FX4 perhaps? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Honestly can barely keep up with ford trims. Wouldn’t the XLT or tremor closer to a TRD than an STX?
Tremor kind of stands on its own, you can't add or subtract many featuresThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
STX is (from what I understand) a work truck that looks a bit better (like an XL base model with chrome delete and alloys)
I think in the stepping of features it would go STX FX4, SR TRD, XLT FX4, SR5 TRD maybe
Given the choice, i probably wouldn't get the FX4 package again in a new Ford

Oops, it’s the SR5 not SR
Why not? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Rougher ride vs non FX4, added expense for stuff that was no use to me (skid plates, diff etc), and if i'm looking correctly at the build site, it's not compatible with having the highest available tow/payload package (mirrors etc)...which is what I want from my next oneThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Admittedly I don't spend a lot of time with the configurator, @ExtraSlow is the mandem for that

I'm with haggis here, the extra $1500 for FX4 wasn't worth it to me for my pavement princess '24 Lariat. The most "off-road" my truck will see is a gravel back alley. Besides, when you add the tow package you get a locking rear diff, so should I get stuck in said gravel alley I can get outThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
fx4 just adds skid plates , hill decent control and different shocks maybe a few other minor things, i have driven non -fx4 and mine is a fx4... i thought mine rode better then the non fx4 ... i would do again... but the skids plates are bunk... they are a fibre cloth that will fall off...
trims now are XL, then STX, XLT, Larait, KR, Platty
Tremor is like an entry level raptor with a minor lift... 402a adds leather and similar features to a lariat , 401a will be like an xlt...
STX was a package on a XL but they made it a whole trim in 24

I have fx4 and I wouldn't spec that if I was building my own. The shocks are different but not as good as aftermarket. The skid plates are not meaningful and aftermarket options are better. The locking rear diff is available separate.

The tremor is very comfortable. That's the limit of my experience.
That’s likely down to the 18 inch wheels and more sidewall. #smallwheelbigtireThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Ya'll forgot the best part of the fx4 pack which is the sweet sweet side box sticker. Ya'll fucked up.
Tap, Rack, BANG!
SPORT is a cooler sticker, XTR is decent because it confuses Americans. 4x4 is the least good. De-stickered is also pretty good.

So back to this:
Have a line of a TRD offroad at ~64k OTD.. seems like a pretty smoking deal, but gotta go drive a tundra and see if i actually like them. Have driven plenty of the fords through work. Seems like i'm prob in it for ~5k cheaper than a similar spec'd XLTThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
or drop an extra 9k and get leather and a giant sunroof. Wish there was a 3k option just for leather, dngaf about a sunroof
There is. Go to Chinook Auto Upholstery and pay them $3000 for likely the nicest leather kit they have. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
