3,175lb is a base A3 with FWD. I really hope nobody thought the S3 would be in the same league as that :P

The "leaked" US price is 41k for the premium plus and 47k for the prestige. Not sure how they compare to the progressiv and the technik.

On Page4 of the info guide, market demographic, caucasian 82%. Do they really need that info?

According to that PDF, no manual in NA, they all get the same 6-speed S-tronic.

So, I just priced out an A3 2.0L Quattro Komfort - $40,500 out the door

But then there is an A4 2.0L Quattro Komfort - $43,000 out the door

What the hell happened? I figured a bigger price difference.

I dont see how the starting price of the S3 will be $44k.

What does out the door mean?

To me 44k out the door translates to 49k fees, taxes in.

The MSRP for a komfort A4 with dsg and quattro is already at 41.5k. The komfort A3 2.0 is at 35.9k with quattro and dsg as standard.

It means "all in", "taxes and fees in", "bottom line" - The final price of the vehicle by the time you "walk out the door". So, your translation is incorrect to what I was trying to convey.

    Sorry if this confused you.

That's what I thought too and what I see online, but I am getting quoted $40,500 for the A3, and $43,000 for the A4. I gotta chat with the salesperson again, but either the A3 is being sold above MRSP, or I'm getting a deal on an A4.

The 40k OTD for the A3 is not out of wack, it's just under 40k before tax and PDI if you checked every option available.

43k OTD is a pretty good deal for the A4, won't be surprised if it's discounted, it's near the end of the generation I believe.

You should probably stock up now and buy a few S3's before Audi Canada reads this thread and raises the price

I'm not cofused at all. I know exactly how OTD pricing works especially at Audi. Unless you got those prices from the dealer you're not getting an OTD price is all I am saying. Audi's site is not as trasnparent as Toyotas for example where your build price is the one you pay. Audi has close to $3,000 in fees depending on how you're paying for the car before any GST is applied and any negotiations. A base S3 at 44k is close to 50K OTD.

Ah, see now I am less confused. When I was pricing these cars out, I was comparing the online prices to the dealer. Even after applying taxes to it, I couldn't figure out where the "extra" $2k-$3k was coming from.

There's been discussion about NA not getting multiple port injection on the engine with only direct injection instead, everyone is all wound up calling bloody murder. My old speed6 has DI engine and I never experience any issue with it. Any stories regarding carbon buildup in Audi's DI engines?
