    Default Shelby Raptor

    http://wot.motortrend.com/shelby-rap...#axzz2OrIIi8lS

Shelby American said its next model wouldn’t be Mustang-based, and it wasn’t kidding. Now, the company has unveiled the latest addition to its specialty vehicle lineup, the Shelby Raptor. Starting with a 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, Shelby added more power and its signature graphics to create the unique performance pickup that took the stage at the New York auto show.

2013 Shelby Ford F 150 SVT Raptor rear three quarters 300x187 imageThe already impressive SVT Raptor is upgraded with a 2.9-liter supercharger, which boosts power of the 6.2-liter V-8 from 411 hp to 575 hp. Helping the force-fed eight-cylinder breathe easier is a Shelby Borla exhaust system, while the stock six-speed automatic transmits its power to all four wheels. Those wheels are shod in 35-inch Goodrich All-Terrain tires, and a custom wheel design is also available. Three graphics packages will be offered, each helping to set the Shelby Raptor apart from lesser, non-supercharged models.

The Shelby Raptor package starts at $17,995 and does not include the cost of the base truck. Each model year, Shelby will build 100 specialty Raptors. Helping to ensure collectability is a documented Shelby CSM number plaque, which is entered into the official Shelby Registry. Shelby is now accepting orders for the supercharged truck, which will join the Shelby Focus ST and 1200-hp Shelby 1000 S/C for the 2013 model-year.

I am trying to convince Baygirl to let me get the Shelby Raptor in flame blue, and in return I will get her the Shelby boss 302, if they have one...

I think these things are badass! I want to trade my FJ for it but can't justify the price.

Doesn't seem to stop the thousands of other Calgarians that feel they need a full size 4x4 for city commuting.

I like the Raptor a lot, but for city driving, it's WAAAY worse than a regular half ton. That thing is so wide. 7 inches wider than an F150 I believe.
Great for gravel driving though. That suspension apparently just soaks up the bumps, much like my old town car I had when I was in university.

I thought these things have frame bending issues.

Really it is not designed for more technical off road trails, but rough service roads would be perfect.
One of my field construction guys drives one of these. He spends about six hours a day driving on gravel and mud roads, and he does this probably 280 days a year. Perfect for him.
Not a good replacement for a jeep if you are looking at technical trails or rock crawling.

That supposed "issue" was no issue at all. Happened to a pretty small number of idiots who hit hard kickers at 60+ mph. The truck does what it's designed to do.

Ford modified the box frame around the bump-stop to idiot-proof the box from bending.

    Before:

    After:

EDIT: I cant find a good enough pic, but the frame no longer has the access hole and the bump stop is attached a different way to resist that issue from happening on newer models.

Anyway, that is some amazing power! I expect that getting 8MPG isn't really that big of a deal, no? lol

For example: those Fox racing struts in the front are $1050 EACH outside of warranty. When stuff like that is no longer warranty I like to hang out up front after handing in the quote just to see the "WHAAAAAAAAT?" reaction

175 HP/TQ in a car weighing 2,300 lbs? Yes, please!!! Ugly as sin and craptacular interior but I am sure it was a hoot to drive.

Oddly enough... the only colour that I really like on the Raptors is beige.
