    Default 2015 NSX Pre-Orders Open

    ...in the UK.

5000 GBP to reserve spot in line for next-gen NSX. Inching ever closer to production. Still in concept stages so I wonder how much tamer the production version will get.

I haven't seen much for photos at all yet but from the one posted above, I don't see any resemblance to the old car at all.

Why even call it an NSX at all? (There are plenty of other alphabet soup names/numbers they could conjure up)

It stems from the naming legacy of Honda supercar prototypes. The original was the HP-X (Honda Pininfarina-Xperimental) that evolved into the NSX (New Sportscar eXperimental)

Will it have more torque than my Honda lawn mower?

Why not? It's the only legendary name under Acura other than the "Legend".

Knowing Honda and the system planned to be in there, no.

But I'm sure it'll be fast. But it would be a disappointment if it doesn't break into mid 3s 0-60.

The specs Honda's been leaking are similar to the BMW i8. Mid-mounted V6 powering rear wheels, two electric motors powering front wheels, ~450 combined horsepower, goal is 50/50 weight distribution. The 0-60 time will be super-low thanks to intelligent AWD, but I think it's going to be the same as the first NSX in that you're paying a lot for a (relatively) mediocre amount of power.

I just edited that out. I remember I made a mention of 4,000 lb and assumed it was the NSX. I'm just reading my article now. It's incomplete, unpublished and super-old, but here's what I had:
The shape bears a striking resemblance (emphasis on striking) to the Audi R8 with its super-low profile, smooth hood and “Grrr” front fascia, accented with LED headlights and Acura’s infamous Shield grill. The rear sports a big diffuser, gorgeous lighting and a rear window that should give us a very nice view of the mid-mounted V6. It’s a gorgeous package for what we hope will be a capable vehicle.

Like the original NSX, the engine will power the rear wheels, but this model also has a couple electric tricks up its sleeve. Similar to the BMW i8, the new NSX will have two electric motors powering the front wheels to provide extra oomph, better traction and superior handling through what Acura is calling Sport Hybrid Super Handling All Wheel Drive, or SHSH-AWD, aka electric torque vectoring. No word on how all this extra gear will affect the weight but Japan’s other V6 supercar, the Nissan GT-R, is proof that technology is capable of making a nimble car from a 4,000 pound chunk of metal.

    I'd still rather have this:

Not much of a fan of the new look.

the target should be under 3000lbs.......

wtf? NSX heavier than a ZR1 corvette...that's blasphemy.

guess they aren't doing full aluminum body anymore?

Just hope they don't do to the NSX with this, what they did to the CRX with the CRZ.

It was 3000lbs but safety needs have increased since.

Then Honda decides to put 3 more electric motors and a battery pack in it.

I think it's a great feat if they can keep that under 3300 without using too many exotic materials. Otherwise, you're looking at a $200K NSX.

Can I buy a first refusal right? I'll put it under John Smith, then when the car comes out, I'll contact every John Smith in North America and see if any of the rich ones want my spot for $20g, lol.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

I wonder how many they plan to build. I also wouldn't be surprised to see 200k price tag.

I wouldn't gamble with a DP on one of these.

    Off topic:
There's so many ways that can be taken out of context.

So I'm at a Michelin event here at their proving grounds in SC, and we're sharing the track here with a pair of camo'd NSX mules working on shock calibrations. Pics are strictly forbidden, but the car looks quite different than the concept that's been shown so far. It looks like a MP4-12C in both size and shape. Big fake diffuser in the back, looks similar to the original C63 rear fake diffuser. Definately a hybrid drivetrain, one car was rolling around in full electric mode. The V6 exhaust note isn't terribly exciting unfortunately. Interior was mostly covered in electronic gear so can't say how that looks.

Pretty neat to see em up close. Surprised the engineers were so open answering our questions haha.
