The Chive

So I am curious to know how many people here know what The Chive is? I was recently told about it by a friend and when I told him that I had no idea what he was talking about, he gave me the weirdest look ever. He pretty much looked at me like I lived under a rock or something.

I've checked it out since and I guess I can understand the fascination a little with all the interested pictures that get posted lol. But I just don't get the craze about it. Apparently for all the chivers here, there is an unofficial Calgary meet sometime in June. I came across a picture where the girl had the date and location up but I don't recall.

I say we do up a Beyond meet and crash that.

I like the app, keeps me entertained on a daily basis but the people who consider it a lifestyle, wear the shirts, call themselves chivers/chivettes are pretty weak IMO.

Very commercial page that used to be a simple pic blog. I used to frequent it a few years ago but now you can't go there without a million tshirt ads or if you click anywhere but main links you get redirected to some idiotic ad.

It's a great ideology, I just resent the commercial aspect of it. Kinda like how team fortress was cool before hats. Chive was cool before t-shirts.

I'm tired of all these fake "amazing" shopped pictures on the chive and other sites like it..and then hoards of people have to repost it on fb etc..sometimes it's nice to disconnect from all that crap

Ive heard of it numerous times, but with Reddit that I've checked out somewhat regularily, I've never checked The Chive out though.

I came across it not too long ago, so it's still fairly new to me. If you're a visual person, it's great to go to just to take your mind off of things for a bit and get a good chuckle.

Aside from the advertising, it does depress me off that I don't actually personally know any girls that remotely come close to Chivette level worthiness. Woe is me.......

Haha that pisses me off too! It's like all these gorgeous girls out there..makes you think why you don't ever come across them. Although I think that Chive meet up in Calgary should have plenty? lol

I found out about the site a few weeks ago, I had no idea that it had been going on for years! I noticed the whole commercialization aspect as well...it's ridiculous how many of those t-shirts they sell. They are always out of stock and I've heard that they sell them out like crazy. They must make a bloody killing!

I find the pictures to be boring, reposts, or fake. The site is full of useless content that is pure advertising. I can see it becoming a dedicated porn site in the future. Some good looking girls on there, but there are on 10,000 other websites too, and they arent plastered with 1/10 the shitty content.
