Default Blue Grass Sod – Grass Type

I ordered 700 sqft of Sod from Blue Grass in Balzac. It took ½ day to install with some friends. After installation I noticed about 30% pieces of sod look different (fresher and lighter green) than the other 70% (the grass was short and darker green).

When I initially phoned Blue Grass, they said they only sell one type of sod (80% Kentucky Blue Grass and 20% Creeping mixed – according to their website).

It was has been 3 weeks since the installation, I have pieces of sod on the front lawn that look inconsistent from a few meters away (harder to tell from a distant).

I phoned Blue Grass again and they told me they do not sell different type of sod. I ask some friends; they said many places cheap out and mixed their sod pieces.

    Anyone know the truth?

Could just be cut from different areas on the sod farm? I would give it some time though to fully regrow and see how it looks.

I had 1600 sqft installed last fall. It was patchy.

After this rain, it is uniform and lush. All from Blue Grass.

    It's not about being patchy.

It's certain individual sod look like it's a different type of grass.

I have attached a picture of my lawn.

I need to get sod for my house this year.
Last time I used Eagle Lake in 2005 because I heard Blue Glass is not as good.
    Any experts here?

I think you just need to weed, feed, and maintain it better.

My lawn looks like this already.

Manderley. Warning: The pieces of sod are fucking heavy as hell because they give you a ton of topsoil with it.

I don't like EL grass. People like it because they cut their pieces really thin so they're easy to handle.

Everyone knows weeding, feeding, and watering more will alter grass's genetic structure to match the grass type around it.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

The photo he posted looks like all the same grass to me. Just looks unkept, & undernourished.

+1 to this. Looks like it needs good feeding, and regular water.

Well it has been more than a month now..

I have mowed my lawn 2 times and fertilized once.

I have found out Blue Grass is using 2 grass types. One is a dark green and the others is lighter grass which grows faster.

I am extremely disappointed, my lawn looks inconsistent with patches of different type piece of sods, colors and heights.

New sod needs a lot of water and I mean a good soaking morning and evening.
Mind you, you might get called out by your neighbors since there is the water ban.
