Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

I always loved this series especially the story. Metal Gear Solid Series has always been my favorite game; especially MSG4. And now, this is coming out!

Well, made it through the two hour intro cutscene movie thing, no time left tonight to actually play the game . Setting up a story is one thing, but that was a little excessive IMO.

This game is crazy good. Finally got to motherbase after getting a few hours in. Graphics on PC are great too and the performance is top notch. I am so bad at stealth games though slinking around foreverrrrrr.

You can skip the cutscenes. some scenes though are prior to a gameplay of which you cannot skip.

I am still turned off the whole MSG franchise after towards the end of the one game, you were constantly being interrupted by your comms, warning of some environmental busllshit and you would be spamming B to exit it, only to take another 2-3 steps, and be interrupted by it again, and again,and again,and again,and again,and again,and again,and again,and again,and again,and again,and again,and again,and again,and again,and again,and again,and again,and again,and again,and again.

The worst part about it, the message was always the same, but you didn't want to quit, because you knew you were so close to the end of the game and want to see it through.

I have never had a game make me more angry before.

Tempted to pick this up, but a 2 hour long intro? Fuck. I have a hard time remembering the control walkthroughs for some games, I doubt I will have the attention span for that!

I thought everyone was talking about the first hospital mission.

the hospital mission was certainly annoying but it took an hour start to finish, then the next hour is a little slow as it introduces all the new mechanics. in the six hours after that I have had I think four cutscenes total, each was < 2 minutes long, and you can skip all but one by not going back to your main base

way way better than MGS4 already that's for sure. That game was fucking awful with how long and frequent and stupid the cutscenes were. People always talk up Kojima like he's a brilliant director but fuck that, he's a hack. MGS4 I just about cringed out of my skin with how awful a lot of that shit was. MGS3 is one of my favorite games of all time but I'm pretty sure it was a complete accident

This time almost all the plot seems to be optional on cassette tapes and stuff. The gameplay in 5 is just so awesome, and the Mother Base bits are surprisingly fun too. I've been extracting everything I can to build up my base.

The controls on PC are driving me crazy. Each time it teaches you to do a new thing, it references a console controller and I have to look up or figure out what keyboard / mouse control does that function.
