If we have another serious hail storm in Calgary this year, insurance companies will probably just walk away from here.

I hope this isn't Karma for all the NE jokes. Then again, Hakkola mentioned that Karma isn't real.

In all seriousness, this is getting crazy!

You're right, but when you say there's no casualties, you're only referring to humans (which by itself is an unbelievable accomplishment). However, the city of Calgary is my friend. She has always been there for me my whole life. The one constant I could rely upon. It pains me very deeply to see Calgary drowning... it almost feels like I'm watching something living drown before my eyes. I know everything can be replaced but the landscape will never be the same after today. My city has changed.

Even on that note, I went through Deerfoot Meadows around 9:45am to get on Deerfoot south to head back home, and as I got onto Deerfoot, I noticed a deer stranded on a small island, not even a stones throw from the northbound lanes. Got it on my dashcam but it's hard to see. And it's just plain hard to watch.

Inlaws evacuated to our house last night, then we lost power at about 9pm as they shut off power to all flooded areas. Left for a dry place today

This is the bridge at Sandy Beach

Elbow drive at the bridge over the Elbow river. Has risen quite a bit since then.

    Poor house

    View out the front door

Raging River through the neighbourhood. The current was really strong!

Not surprised if Rage is stuck in there. Seems to be the only NW/SW corridor left.

any idea on if bow trail west is still good to get out of downtown on.. still living the dream in GCS with a few coworkers who plan on getting out of here shortly.

Cant seem to find good updates on what roads are closed and seen lots of tweets about downtown evacs, but nothing concrete.

I think there used to be a creosote plant in that area back in the day
