Reports of power out in Mackenzie, Douglasdale-confirmed?
Copperfield has power but we are running low on beer!
Got power just fine in new brighton.
I went into Okotoks this morning for a meeting (no work, office was still sand bagged and closed) at about 8:30am. Roads were all open, seemed fine and the Sheep was going down all day.Originally posted by xnvy
How's Sheep River looking? Some of my friends in Okotoks said they had to evac so we let them come stay with us for the weekend in Cranston.
Edit: Yes also heard power out in Douglasdale, Cranston is fine.
Douglasdale down by the river confirmed power out. MacKenzie had about an hour outage, but we are currently okay. Power flickers every 10 or so minutes tho.Originally posted by ianmcc

My brother in law and his two kids went back to Okotoks earlier today. Only 8 extra house-guests now!

over hyped flood... wasn't any real "danger" went around town today to find puddles only.. even dt area that flooded was merely a foot high with no need to really "evacuate" people. Just needed shorts and sandals.

Shoot, jibber, I missed your post saying you were out and about. My home is small but if you and yours need somewhere to stay I can make it work here.Originally posted by jibber
EDIT: we've decided to bide some time at the Timmies near the south end if Southridge Drive in Okotoks. Anyone in the area that would like a free coffee is welcome to join us . Look for two sad people with a heavily loaded silver Xterra.

I guess I picked a good week to go on a vacation. So is the train tunner behind city hall completely flooded? I would assume so.Originally posted by kenny
Pretty crazy damage that I saw today. The South LRT tracks are damaged between Victoria Park and Erlton station as the "new" elbow river path is eating away at the ground under the tracks. Portion of macleod trail are also gone as the water is just eating away at the dirt underneath.
The Elbow river, instead of going around Talisman has decided to veer East right before Talisman and is running down what used to be 22 Ave just destroying everything in its path. Pretty sure downtown will remain closed on Monday.
They want people out of the way unless the water gets high and so emergency traffic can get through. Oh, and the transformers are underground so you could be electrocuted?Originally posted by LollerBrader

I suspect there would be a body count if towns like High River weren't under a mandatory evacuation.
