Trees were letting loose around memorial, and walking down to the area you really get an idea of the volume of water pushing through. I hope you are right but I think the island might be very different for a while

Bit of a long shot, but Beyonders work in a LOT of different professions. Not sure if this is real and viable, but if it is:

Anyone have any pictures in Kensington area? Around the Safeway? Is it flooded there? Know people with properties there.

Closest I've seen is 14th St and Kensington Rd. NW.

I don't *think* the water made it that far in from what I've seen

Water treatment plants are starting to struggle. Use bottled water, avoid doing laundry, avoid using dishwashers, etc.

The Sheep has come down quite a bit since Thursday afternoon. You can see where it was because all the smaller trees have been bent to one side and all the leaves are turned and discoloured.

The amount of mud everywhere on the streets and sidewalks is incredible. The streets may have been easier to travel when the river was crossing them. Now, it's just 6-12 inches of sticky tar-like mud everywhere. It looks impassible by foot from the looks of the attempts that have been made.

NOTE: don't fill up at the Shell in Okotoks next to the Sheep River bridge until the locals have drained all of the silt, mud and river water out of the tanks for you. 1-2 weeks should suffice.

EDIT: we've decided to bide some time at the Timmies near the south end if Southridge Drive in Okotoks. Anyone in the area that would like a free coffee is welcome to join us . Look for two sad people with a heavily loaded silver Xterra.

Shit just got real in Medicine Hat. State of emergency declared, 10k+ under evactuation orders (I know it's not Calgary, but it's downstream and getting hammered by the storm surges our dams couldn't hold back)

Sheep was pretty intense crossing over on deerfoot, i'm sure any houses close to the river are hurting.

I hope to get back into high river tomorrow, offered our services today, they have tonnes of support from local awesome people and their boats / toys > free of charge of course

I'm going to visit a buddy in deer run in a bit, he said they've barricaded bow bottom and to get to deer run you'd want to go canyon meadows drive then through deer ridge he Don Bosco school way.

Global just showed police moving people away from deerfoot when they stop. People are now parking in my area (rosedale) to get a view from the hill, at least they aren't blocking traffic
