Jesus that's small. I'm pretty intrigued and it would be a nice change from hauling this monster around:

I was really hoping sigma would announce a crop 8-16 to round out the 18-35 and 50-100 art zooms, unfortunately I can't justify that 12-24 on a crop body

Sony A6500 announced with 5-AXIS/5-stop IBIS (Stills + video, and works with OSS), 425 PDAF points, 11FPS and a 307 frame buffer and "touch-to-pull" focus for video. $1400 USD / $1750 CAD
Sony RX100 V announced with 315 PDAF points, 24 FPS shooting with AF/AE with a 150 frame buffer for RAW+JPEG, new stacked CMOS sensor, 1/32,000 shutter, and oversampled 4K video by 1.3X for a 1.7X crop factor ( Picture Profile, S-Log2/S-Gamut, 120p HD Full HD). 24-70 F1.8-2.8 $1000 USD / $1249 CAD

Thinking I'm skipping the m5 and heading straight to the 6500 with adapter.

The X100F had my interest until I saw $1700! That's nuts. That and the X-T20 look like great cameras though otherwise.
you can thank the strong US dollar too
I thought about selling the X-T2 and get X-T2 but EVF is smaller, body is ugly and I've grown fond of the ISO dial, I seriously wish Fuji would release the X-E3 next and soon.
The X100F is tempting as well but as I'm more a 28mm shooter, the X-T2 with 18mm will have a smaller foot print than the X100F with WCL.
Although those new adapters are interesting as apparently it somehow communicates to the body when an adapter is mounted so that it applies all the required lens corrections.
XF 50mm is the lens I might get next though as it would make a good combo with my XF 18mm, I have the 35mm but I somehow feel it still too close to the 18mm.
GFX is really tempting if not bloody expensive, size of a DLSR and you can mount Hasselblad V lenses, just a matter of time until someone releases an adapter for legacy MF lenses.
BTW that Leica M10 being the size of an M6 TTL or M7 is too bad about the price haha.
Yup, the USD is destroying most of the camera prices. Sucks for everyone.
M10 looks pretty awesome, I still just want a Q with a 50 or 75mm 1.4 on it.Originally posted by taemo

GFX looks really sweet, Fuji's really planned this one out well. I'm going to stick with my 645Z and hope that the next iteration uses an actual 645 sensor. Plus I can't afford to switch at the moment
Sonyalpharumours is floating the possibility of a new pro body announced next week, but more importantly a 400m f4 prime!
I think all e-mount bodies except the a6000 & a6300 have ibis now, so if they leave OSS off the 400 they could keep the weight (and hopefully price) from being astronomical. I recently grabbed an 80d holding off to see what canon did with the 7diii and if sony could get some good tele lenses, definitely excited to see what happens in 2017.

Their 500mm/4 is $16,000 without OSS, so don't hold your breath on that 400/4 price being reasonable I just don't think they do the volume to have better pricing.
That is ~$5000 more than the newest Nikon 500/4 VR FL and ~$4000 more than the Canon 500/4 IS II both of which handily outperform it.
I also wouldn't expect a 7DM3 for quite a while. We already know Canon won't put 1-series tech in a lesser body, so any update to the existing model would be marginal aside from perhaps fixing the AF issues. I would guess 2018 at the earliest with their usual refresh schedules.
Agreed on the 7d and their lack of response to the d500, seems like their is no rumours/news/anything for 2017, I'd even be surprised at 2018 at this point.
Sony is frustrating for their own reasons, I tried native emount glass on the a6500 and it was great, but wtf is the point of a weather sealed body with 11fps and a great focusing system if your longest lens is 300mm? The touch screen was also a bit frustrating, considering tax in, it was $600 more than my 80d I just couldn't justify it. Also my 400 f5.6 wasn't that fast when adapted with the mc-11, so my hands are a bit tied at the moment, can't make the leap yet.

They won't ever respond to the D500 directly because that would require developing some better tech than what is in the 1DX II, like better AF, and then putting it straight into a much cheaper crop body. That is vehemently against Canon's business model and always has been. I am guessing that was one reason Nikon went as far as they did with the D500, to guarantee a certain level of exclusivity in the segment. On the flip side, Canon probably has lower sales cannibalization of the 1-series/pro model from within than Nikon does. Just two different strategies. The two brands' offerings have always been difficult to compare directly. There was 5 years between the 7D and 7DII announcements, so the III in 2018/2019 would be reasonable. I'd expect a remedied AF system and the 80D sensor - I'd be surprised if they did any more with the III.
I agree that Sony is a frustrating company. Their bodies have *insane* specs and world class sensors, but they never seem to live up to the hype, and lens selection is both too limited and too expensive for many people to choose it over Canon/Nikon. A lot of people seem to switch to mirrorless based on spec, and then switch back to a traditional DSLR system after actually using it for a while. Personally I enjoy them as backup/secondary cameras but obviously there are still enough fans for Sony to be putting out new bodies every year so they are doing at least something right. The RX100 line is extremely successful for them as well. I am intrigued by their SLT bodies but until they find a way around the light loss and fix the lens situation, it's hard to get too excited about it. They get better with every iteration though.
One up side is that Sony seems to be listening to their customers, bringing the ibis and touchscreen to the a 6500 was a big surprise. I think their biggest fault lies in releasing half finished products, then not providing any roadmap into where they plan to go.
Looking at panasonic's gh5 by comparison makes them look archaic. While the gh5 is currently "unfinished" in that all of the advertised features aren't highlighted, they provided a firmware roadmap showing exactly when customers can expect improvements.
Meanwhile in Sony land, if you bought an a6300 in July, then found out in August that the features you REALLY wanted were in the a6500, how are you going to decide what to do next? Buy the a6500, take the resale hit on your a6300 and hope the a 6700 doesn't come out in June? How many outdoor/wildlife photographers won't buy Sony because the prospect of a functional telephoto lens isn't spelled out? How many vloggers are eyeing the a 6500 but are holding off because the a6700 might have an articulating touch screen that focuses as well as canon? How many wedding/event photographers won't buy the a7r2 because of a single card slot, and no mention of dual card slots on the horizon?
I really do hope sony sorts themselves out, canon has a whole world of annoying strategies, but at least they are predictably underwhelming and you can feel comfortable that your choice will do the job, even if you know canon held back on what they could have offered.

Maybe I won't get the Nikon 105/1.4 after all if this is true.
The 14 and 135 have my attention and would work great with my 18-35 and 50-100, the 100-400 is interesting but their contemporary line usually lacks weather sealing, which could be a deal breaker.

Olympus has officially discontinued their Zuiko Digital line of Four Thirds lenses - it seemed like only a matter of time.
