But you'd have to wait 3 whole months for them to reach the discount bin. Good idea, makes sense to throw in as many sensor options as possible.

Funny how 12MP seems so tiny these days.

New Pentax 645Z with the same 50 MP sensor at the Phase One IQ250 and the new Hasselblad, all for US$8500.

44mm wide sensor, so a 0.79 HZ crop compared to 35mm.

Sony announced the RX 100 III today.

Some really cool additions, most notably a pop up EVF (this is awesome), 24-70/1.8-2.8 lens, 180 degree articulated LCD, 4K video w/proper HDMI out, and the same processor used in the A7/A7R. Here's hoping it will be the first ever truly responsive P&S. Also focus peaking, and a 3 stop ND.

    Same sensor as previous models.

    $800

Looks like it's end of the line for Aperture. Does anyone here even use it?

    http://petapixel.com/2014/06/27/brea...ills-aperture/

The day has come. We all felt it in our bones, but today it has been confirmed by the guys in Cupertino: Apple has stopped development of Aperture, its professional-level photo organization and editing software.

This news doesn’t come as a major surprise, especially on the heels of this year’s WWDC. With a number of new photo applications and an updated platform coming to life, the official announcement is only an echo of the rumor that Aperture had one foot in a grave and the other on a banana peel.

As Apple itself told The Loop Editor-in-Chief Jim Dalrymple:

With the introduction of the new Photos app and iCloud Photo Library, enabling you to safely store all of your photos in iCloud and access them from anywhere, there will be no new development of Aperture. When Photos for OS X ships next year, users will be able to migrate their existing Aperture libraries to Photos for OS.
Also confirmed, is the fact that the new Photos app featured at WWDC this year will officially replace the iLife program iPhoto. Up until now, this had only been rumored.

As for Apple’s other professional-grade programs, such as Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro, there’s no need to fear. In Apple’s statement to The Loop, they were “very clear” that these programs are still in active development.

With this announcement and the confirmation that Photos for OS X will indeed replace iPhoto, Apple’s photography-related applications will now become more streamlined than ever. Photos will soon be the new standard for both iOS and OS X photo organization and processing.

And for a company that strives to live and die by the tenets of consistency and simplicity, it seems like a logical move, if a bit unpleasant for some photographers.

It's my go to program and I have created a ton of presets in it over the last few years. Lightroom has just sat idle in my dock, but I guess it's time to move on

Anyone else interested in the Panasonic LX100?

    m4/3 sensor,
    24-75mm lens with 1.7 - 2.8,
    1/16000 shutter,
    flash sync to 1/4000 (apparently),
    high def EVF

and its as small as a m43 camera with a pancake prime.

yeah not much of a major upgrade or improvement from the X100s which is still a great camera, the only thing I really want is the Classic Chrome simulation but in reality I would be happy with just the X100

Cool, Sony announces the A7 II:

Building upon its much lauded predecessor, the a7 II features 5-axis in-body image stabilization, a first for a full-frame image sensor, as well as improved handling, 30% faster AF, enhanced weather sealing, and the addition of the XAVC S video codec along with the S-Log2 gamma curve.

    nice evolution from the A7!
I was expecting the A9 rumors then the A7 II news showed up online this morning, didn't expect that.

placement of the shutter button finally makes sense

IBIS is frigging sweet for all the legacy lenses out there

not enough for me to warrant an upgrade but if something happens to my insured A7 then maybe

I actually like where the button is on the A7, similar to where they are on the rangefinders.

it's not bad when you get used to it or if you shoot rangefinders all the time but if you're coming from the DSLR world, it feels weird.

2 Custom buttons to replace the shutter button on the top.

A7 II looks awesome. I don't like IBIS for most things but they seem to have done a great job with it.

Also the Panny LX 100 got a glowing review, if anyone had their eye on that one.

Sigma 150-600 S also has a couple very positive reviews out. I want to see more testing at 400-600mm, but I'd probably take that over a mythical 300/4 VR if it can hold it's own at the longer focal lengths.
