Sounds about right. I called it quits with 4/3's when the E-M5 (m4/3) came along. Glad I didn't wait for the E-7. The weather sealing and high grade / super high grade stuff were awesome, but way too pricey for a system that wasn't that well supported.
Someday we may need to activate the halo structure off Deerfoot and destroy the North East.

Pricing information for the Sigma 135mm has been released

    https://fstoppers.com/gear/sigma-ann...er-1399-169671

Pre-orders and pricing are now available for Sigma's 135mm f/1.8 Art lens, the company's newest portrait beast and the fastest lens of its type and price point. At $1,399, you can preorder today for delivery in the middle or end of April for Canon, Nikon, and Sigma mounts.
So this should work out about ~$1900 CAD.

    That's not bad at all.

Yeah that's not bad at all considering Nikon's is about $2,500 or so.

Yeah, that's where I was anticipating the pricing would be close to, like ~$2300: close to the 105mm but slightly cheaper.

I'm just hoping the AF performance is pretty decent and not hit and miss like a lot of the recent ART lenses.

No OS/VR on any of these new 85/105/135 lenses is a letdown IMO. The 135 in particular would really benefit from it. It's already oversize for the design, no reason not to put OS in it or at least offer versions with/without. Won't matter in the studio but for many applications it would be enormously useful.

That price has me worried about the 14mm, I was really hoping it would be a crop lens to match up with the 18-35 and 50-100 price range.

More product photos at ePHOTOzine, but the "Reviews" don't really tell anything other than what these lenses are supposed to do which any idiot should be able to figure out

Sony announced a pretty wild mirrorless camera today, the A9, with an outrageous price tag of $6000:

World’s First full-frame stacked CMOS sensor, 24.2 MP resolution
Blackout-Free Continuous Shooting at up to 20fps for up to 241 RAW5/ 362 JPEG images
Silent, Vibration-free shooting at speeds up to 1/32,000 sec
693 point focal plane phase detection AF points with 60 AF/AE tracking calculations per second
Extensive professional features including Ethernet port for file transfer, Dual SD card slots and extended battery life
5-Axis in-body image stabilization with a 5.0 step shutter speed advantage

    -----------------

Looks to me like they are going after the D5 / 1DX II. The benefits of stacked sensors are mostly for speed, which appears to be what they were going for here. It should also allow them to implement the electronic shutter without robbing precious light-gathering space on the sensor. Hopefully that state of the art 24MP sensor is available to other brands as well.

minimal improvement from the A7R2, but if you're coming from A7/R or A7R it is a great update.
more resolution and cheaper than the A9.

curious to see the reviews for the 24-105 f4 but I'm not interested on getting one as I can't stand shooting with zoom lenses anymore.
i like how they managed to keep this to 77mm filter thread

44 Wide was sold to Blacks Photo a while ago. I ordered 2 large metal prints and the quality is exactly the same as it was with 44 wide, just FYI.

A7III looks great in that you get most of an A9 for 1/3 the price. The A9 was/is a very poor seller for Sony, so I suspect that may have been why they are moving most of the features down market to the A7III.

Not so great is it comes with the same laundry list of performance caveats as the A9 and every other Sony, they cheaped out on the EVF, and still no lossless compressed 14bit. There is also still the backlit banding issue from the PDAF pixels - zoom in and look at the girl's face:

    https://2.img-dpreview.com/files/p/T...7523984324.jpg

Overall a very nice camera with some lingering, frustrating caveats IMO.

Poor Canon and their M50 and plastic-mount 4000D announcement yesterday - one might think they are simply trolling the market at this point.

That does look quite nasty. Does the same issue exist for older gen Sony?
