After getting COVERED in mud, resulting in a backyard kiddie pool bath, the boys (all sons of beyond members) naturally waged an underwear star wars battle of epic proportions
Thanks! The lighting setup is the exact same as seen here...even the sun is in the same location to backlight the subjectOriginally posted by msommers

elinchrom ranger rx speed as with a/head shot through a 7' octabank at full power (1100w/s) I also shoot with a 3 stop nd and a polarizer. The octabank is just outside the frame ~6ft from the subject

Or rent a bigger lens from Vistek or TCS or lens lenders or whatever.Originally posted by ga16i
Thanks Steve for those pointers! I'll try harder next year for the full disc. I think I'd like more than a 2.0X teleconverter to try and fill my frame with these planes haha. Here's a few from the Lethbridge Airshow.
2.0 TC significantly impacts the focus speed...I still own one, but I very rarely use unless I have no other option.

Holy crap kobe tai is killing it with the golden sunsets!
Ok, good to know about the TC, never tried one before. Had a quick look at lens options and WOW! You weren't kidding about BIGGER lens.
Olympus 90-250mm f2.8 3270g
Olympus 300mm f2.8 3290g
Sigma 50-500mm f4.0-6.3 1830g
Sigma 135-400mm f4.5-5.6 1280g
Sigma 300-800mm f5.6 5915g
My Olympus 50-200mm f2.8-3.5 is 920g
The Sigma's will significantly improve my reach. The Olympus offerings seem completely nuts, so much for the smaller lens for smaller sensor theory when it's THAT much bigger than the Bigma. If I start lifting now for the next show, I might be able to handhold the Bigma haha. Don't think my 486RC2 ball head or 190xprob can comfortably support that lens with the E-3 body.
Someday we may need to activate the halo structure off Deerfoot and destroy the North East.
and I don't have enough experience with the Olympus stuff to know what's what...Originally posted by ga16i

I used to handhold the 400mm 2.8 for 5-6 hours a day for airshows. just learning to put it down when you're between acts.

You'll have to let me see the m3 next week
also have one more film camera on its way well technically two but the other one is just a QL17 iii
How come you got an M3 when you have an M6? The 0.91x? I had two on two separate occassions, a SS and a DS. I just couldn't get used to meterless.
Just got back from a late night stroll. No LR on my laptop
Mainly to see the difference between the M6 and M3, although have to say that the M3 is great if you are a 50 or 90 shooter because of the 0.91x VF.
Regarding metering I cheated and bought a VC meter although it can get confusing as you adjust your metering but then you might forget adjusting the actual shutter and aperture on the camera lol.
I decided to get a DS so that it would be different than the M6.
I might end up selling either one down the road once I find out which one I like best.
did you update the fw on the x-pro1?

Yeah, though the focus peaking isn't as great as it could have been. The in focused areas are highlighted in white which can be a little hard to see or distinguish if you're shooting white or light coloured objects unless you're zoomed in 3x or 10x. A Fuji rep did say they're supposed to be releasing another firmware that will give user selectable colours and a maximum shutter speed on auto-ISO, so these updates just get better and better.Originally posted by taemo
