Yeah you need the actual chipped key fob in the car, other wise you cant start it, and if you go anymore then lets say 20 or so feet away from it while its running, it'll shut off. Not too sure on the exact distance as Ive never tried on mine, but.

Lol, yeah, if I found out some sales guys at a dealership did that with my car before I bought it, I'd be livid. I wouldn't be surprised if they lost their jobs for that, the name of the dealership & their faces are impossible to dispute.
