From what I gather two electric motors power rear wheels and then work in conjunction with a turbo gas motor on half-full throttle. Fuel consumption will be way down, power way up theyre talking 500HP.

Are we talking base or fully loaded? An MR with Nav is already $58,000.Originally posted by Tik-Tok

Well with electric motors on the back there's no need for a drivetrain behind the front axle. No center diff, no rear diff, no driveshaft. I don't think that'll make up for the weight of two electric motors but it's still -some- savings. The electric motors would be useless if they weren't actively applying power during cornering so obviously they'll be doing that. It sounds like the same system BMW and Acura are talking about in the i8 and NSX.
Which makes me think it's a load of crap and we'll just end up with a slightly updated Evo X.
The X was WAY overpriced for what it was anyways... This can't be good.
Not even NSX is promising 500HP. Surprising anyone would even think a EVO will be anywhere close.
The problem is fanboys can't afford it. The people who can, rather pay a bit more for Germans.

My guess is 90k base for Canada.

I say stupid shit all the time.
I bet 350-400hp same price 50k. Still a car I would never buy, such a crappy interior. I'd rather have a slightly slower german with awsome interior. What's the sti coming with hp wise?
that blue thing in the video looks disgusting. i hate how half the new cars have a stupid darth vader face, even little econo cars like ford focus
It will be interesting but I'm not sure if this is the best path as it's going to be expensive. Instead of putting all this money into an expensive hybrid why not put that money into making the next Lancer a lighter platform and adding direct injection to the 4B11 to help increase fuel efficiency and response? The handling is already world class and it's just the rest of the car that needs some polishing.
Fuck i really hoped this electric Evo business was just hype. Why fix the AWD Turbo platform if it isn't broke?

With cars like the CLA45 AMG and S3 in the same price range, these are going to be harder to sell I would think. You seem to get a lot "more car" with the performance oriented German compacts.
lol like there is no precedent for Mitsubishi to do stuff like that already? after they brutally murdered everything good about the Eclipse after the '99 model year I'm surprised the Evo got to hang on this longOriginally posted by Ca_Silvia13

The only way EVO can remotely compete with CLA45 is to have 500HP, DCT, 0-60 close to or under 4s and comes in at $50K fully loaded.Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

Even then, my money would still most likely goes to CLA45.
One thing is clear, over priced in Canada.
