I've heard rumours of LEOs suing subjects encountered while on duty, but never seen it in actual print ..... good job.

I dont think $4mil will happen, but I can see a few $100k quite easily being handed down.

I remember a RCMP member successfully sued a pastor who claimed that he drew his gun during a traffic stop Agnes user racist language. The dash cam proved all allegations were false. The pastor was from the Yukon, but I think it happened in Alberta.

UPDATE: Convictions overturned for Camrose woman found guilty of assaulting a peace officer

EDMONTON – After being found guilty of assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest and obstruction April 16, Simona Tibu’s convictions were overturned Monday.

The charges against the Camrose woman were in connection with a traffic stop on Aug. 3, 2013.

The 40-year-old dentist was convicted in Wetaskiwin in April. Alberta Justice confirmed the convictions were overturned Dec. 14.

Tibu was charged after being pulled over for speeding on her way to Edmonton.

Do officers make mistakes and use more force than the continuum allows for? Sure, but here in Canada it's my opinion that it's a pretty rare occaission. While in school I worked at two of the roughest nightclubs in Calgary (Back Alley) for a couple summers and watching the restraint of the paid duty and other officers compared to officers in the US states I called home is incredible.
