Scratch that. They dicked around with my last for over 2 weeks in the warehouse and it was never even picked, so cancelled that order..

    But check out this amazing beast;

By Lynx Motion. I'd like to get my hands on one of those but until I get a lot better I best stick with stuff that's easy to get parts for. Which I ended up ordering a DJI Flame Wheel kit or something from a Canadian drone site so I can get replacement parts locally when I break stuff.

got it used, and going to learn on it. These things are pretty fool proof it seems. It will lift a gopro and I can eventually put a FPV system on it. This seems like the ultimate beginner quad, and is pretty forgiving.

Already flew it a bit tonight, and I am loving it!

I feel like the phantoms are a little to fool proof for beginners. But nice purchase, I saw that on crc.

Yeah, I bought it off Tek on CRC. It was a good deal for sure, and I was waiting for something like this for awhile.

And I needed something crazy easy to start with. I can't keep my Super Cub in the air for more than 12 seconds on a really good flight before I crash and break it, then I gotta sit and glue it for 24 hours.!

    I needed this LOL

Was also eyeing that Phantom on kijiji. Still kinda eyeing the Walkera QR350. Nov is a long time to wait for my Airdog (if it ever comes).

Shit that looks awesome. I just rebuilt my Hobbyking SK450 onto a DJI F450 frame kit. God damn the DJI frame is so much nicer than the Hobbyking unit.

I really need a prop balancing setup for these 10 inch blades.

    Holy FUCK!

I want to see that monster when it is built!

I was kinda thinking if it would be possible to add spacers to the props to offset them just slightly so that they could pass under/over each other to allow for a larger prop.

    That's pretty damn sweet.

I'm still waiting for my stuff from HobbyKing. Made three orders on the same day back in May, got two of the packages in two weeks. Still waiting for the third one that has my ESCs and charger. Summer will be over by the time I get to fly mine

You'd probably toast the motors or ESCs trying to accomplish that.

I brought it up a few weeks ago. Ended up getting an early bird spot someone gave up. Did you back it?

Had to take a break from building the thing. Doing wire loom over all the wires and soldering every connection instead of bullet connectors is very time consuming.

A better idea than staggering your props would to just use some extensions like

depending what your trying to go for decides what you should do with the motors.

If you wanting better flight times going to a lower KV motor with a bigger prop will give you equivalent thrust with less current at the cost of top end speed.

Keeping the same speed motor with a bigger prop will increase your payload but again your sacrificing top end speed and probably end up hurting your thrust/power (effeciency)

Well Airframe is all together and soldered up. Did my usual middle of my living room maiden. First attempt, I forgot to change the yaw correction and it went into a crazy fast but stable flatspin. I managed to get it on the ground gracefully somehow. Reversed the servo and all was well. Now just to wait for the wind to die down so I can start adjusting the PIDs and dial it in.

One really neat thing with the slower motors is there is not alot of additional sound when you add throttle it is pretty consistent on its volume.

Took the Phantom out to Windsor Park today to do some flying, and had a lot of fun.

My next steps are researching some FPV options for it. Looking for a radius of about 1500m.

I have also gotten fairly decent in flying it too. Most of the time I have the GPS turned off on it, and fly it manually. sometimes the drift works out great for camera shots!

I'm looking at picking up a phantom 2 in the near future too, do wifi signals actually affect it like I've read on some discussions? Also, how fast would you say it can travel in a horizontal plane? In this video at about the 3 second mark they have the phantom chasing boats.

Might NOT be work safe because there's girls in bikinis
