Default EI claim 26 weeks and counting, still no money

Posting this in frusteration in reguards to my best friend who has had her claim with EI and onto week 26 now, nothing has happened......she has called, she has gone to the EI office, still they cannot figure their shit out and help her. She has a legit claim and this should have been processed in 2-3 weeks MAX.

What can she do? Goto the news stations? Is there another # she can call? Another office she could visit? How do you get help when the ppl supposed to be helping are fuking you around?

26 weeks.....the word rediclous does not even cover it........

This girl has been thru hell 3 times in under 4 months and does not deserve this, she is one of the most compassionate ppl i have ever met and I refuse to allow this to continue. She deserves the help and support from EI that she has paid into for over 10 years.

Help me beyond, help me help someone in need, im sure there is a few gov employees on here who can offer some advise and/or insight.

Based on the level of detail provided, the best advice is "get it sorted out".

Right now those dealing with EI claims are grossly understaffed, so the average wait time I roughly 3-5 months before you start getting your money from what I've seen .

Tell her to wait and deal with it, like everybody else. Don't like it, get a job.

Did she get a access number? Has she been completing her reports on time? Did she sign up for direct deposit and maybe gave the wrong information?

Wow, 26 weeks. People would have gone into foreclosure and bankruptcy at that point. Does she have a huge severance package or something? The will hinder pay out as well.

Ever thing it might be a Maternity claim? Not just because she cant find a job. Maternity claims are paid through EI and you have to go through the same bullshit.

AKAIK maternity claims are super easy/fast. This sounds a little more complicated than that.... Obviously we need more infomation

Go down to the Harry hays. Service Canada, they can figure it out pretty fast. It usually takes a few days to process as long as she has her ROE. Maybe her employer screwed her application?

26 weeks? Mine took around 1-2 weeks to process IIRC, but that was almost a year ago now.

As already stated she should have an access code and be able to check the status of her claim through her My Service Canada account, how many weeks of payout she has remaining, etc.

    More info would definitely help.

a few trolls and a few who care.......typical beyond, zero helpful info so far.........if anyone thinks they can help i would ask that they pm me since this thread has too many trolls already. Yes she has access code, no the code has not helped, nor has calling every week, or going to the EI office. Its nice to see some ppl care, shame on the rest of you for being ignorant pricks.

I don't think ignorant pricks is the right term here... Perhaps if you provided some more information as a few others have suggested advice could be given which would pertain to her situation.

There must be more details which might help to explain the wait time...

Some things that would be helpful for more information:

    1) Is she actually eligible for EI? Many people think they are when they aren't.
-Was she fired, quit, dismissed, bought out etc? Did she work the minimum amount of hours?

    2) What has she gotten back
-Does she have confirmation of her approval for EI and what she should be receiving and if not, why? What comes up when she checks the status of her claim. If Service Canada people have been 'giving her the go around' what have they been saying in regards to the claim?

    3) What is the status of her ROE/EI Reports
-Did she submit the ROE's herself or did her employer do it (if the latter, does she have confirmation of it). Did she fill out the reports and the EI benefit statement?

    And so on.

If she has an access code I'm pretty sure that means she was approved. ROE is record of employment for those who don't know

Are you giving her money to help make ends meet? Maybe shes just enjoying a free ride from you and pocketing the checks on the side. You can never be to careful because bitches be trifling.

Access code is granted to EVERYONE who applies and as stated you could pay for 20 years into EI but if you don't have the qualifying hours you are SOL.

I could only imagine the backlog with the flood and everything else going on.

26 weeks tho? Sounds a bit far fetched as that is over 6 months.
