Do you hate chiclet keyboards? (big gap between keys)
If you like them, why?

I like loud noisey mechanical keyboards with large spacing.
HATE laptop keyboards. I'm useless on them.
I can type faster on a loud old mechanical keyboard than a new quiet closely spaced keyboard.
Noise = audible confirmation of a key stroke, and it helps with a lot of people. I don't always watch what I type, I never look at my hands so the sound helps.
My wife has it on her laptop, a Sony Vaio, and I don't. I can type just as fast on both, and I type pretty fast. I don't really find any difference at all to tell you the truth. The key placement is still the same, so it's the same keyboard. The distance between keys is not a factor for me, as most computer keyboards just angle out on the edges anyways, the center of the strike face remains relatively the same spot, the chicklets just cut off 90 degrees down, vs a gradual 45 or whatever degree slop on a standard keyboard.
I don't know what AE92 is really talking about, as most laptop keyboard still make plenty of noise. I use laptops at all times when outside of work, and a desktop at work, and I find 0 difference in my typing speed wherever I am.
Mechanical keyboards are significantly louder than your average desktop and laptop keyboard. Businesses don't use them because it actually sounds like a type writer.
personally, I have a mechanical keyboard or a 'chicklet' or whatever on my desktop at home and I find that i can write faster with fewer errors when the keys have most of a distinct distance between the keys.
There are different types of mechanical keyboard switches from very quiet to typewriter. I have one at home that the only sound is if you bottom out the keys, I like it lots. Chiclet keyboards I do really hate though.Originally posted by dirtsniffer

I've had my Das Keyboard mechanical keyboard for a few years now and it still feels like the day I bought it:

Most of the membrane keyboards I've had to toss out after a year or 2 cause they'd just feel like crap after a while.
You have a couple of photos that are great... you must be very good at photoshop!
I don't like the 104 design, and the only other vintage ibm keyboards I can find are missing the windows key... which admittly I do use for shortcuts
I use a razr one myself at work, but unfortunately when I brought a mech keyboard to work, I was almost lynched

original Microsoft Intellimouse 1.0. Best mouse ever made. When they stopped selling them in stores I bought 10 of them off ebay. Still have some boxed up. Nice, beefy, good buttons, great for gaming. Don't use them anymore as every peripheral I have now is wireless.Originally posted by rage2
Anyone recognize that oldschool mouse?
I'll buy em off you. I'm down to 1 spare!
