    Default Tesla Model S

First time I'v seen one. Spotted on QE2 south of edmonton.

In the rear view mirror it looked like a Maserati and didn't think much till I saw the back end with no exhaust pipes.

Bug Splatter got in the way of a clear shot and well didn't bother trying to keep up to get a better shot.

I've driven one of the black P85s, a former colleague owns it. Very cool car. Definitely a unique experience driving one.

I see a red one or one's in the NW and NE weekly (one owner must work in the area of the Calgary Sun building). Sharp looking car.

Spotted a red one yesterday. Really needs the 21" wheels to make it look mean.

How much is the range on these going to be impacted once serious winter hits?

Wow didn't realize how much of a difference the 21's make. Amazing cars, this is only the beginning, they can't make these cars fast enough to keep up with the demand.

Saw one of these a couple days back. There at least a few in Calgary. Also saw a silver Fisker Karma on QE2. Don't know which one I like more

    Fisker Karma>Model S for sure.

    Load a Karma with a V8 and it's bangin' .

There's a red, black, or white Tesla parked around The Bow.

Volt people say they lose about 40% range due to cabin heater. I doubt Testla will do much better.

Looks like consumer report has similar result on cold weather testing (30F)

To its credit, the Model S delivered 176 miles from a full charge in cold weather--considerably more than any other EV on the planet. While it was in line with what the car predicted, it proved well short of the rated 240 miles the car promised when I started, let alone the 265 estimated by the EPA or the 300 touted by Tesla.
    Norwegians had similar results:

    http://gas2.org/2013/06/25/video-nor...-weather-test/

Also as per Model S warranty:
    http://www.teslamotors.com/sites/def...rranty_2.1.pdf

    Warranty is void if:
Exposing the vehicle to ambient temperatures above 140°F (60°C) or below -22°F (-30°C) for
    more than 24 hours at a time;
    AND

The Battery, like all lithium-ion batteries, will experience gradual energy or power loss with time and
use. Loss of Battery energy or power over time or due to or resulting from Battery usage, is NOT
covered under this Battery Limited Warranty. See your owner documentation for important
information on how to maximize the life and capacity of the Battery.
So yeah, you don't want to keep your Tesla outside in Canadian winter.

Range will be reduce by 40% but for daily driver and plugged in every night it's not a big deal. Just make sure you have a warm garage for very cold days/nights.

Definitely one of the biggest limiters is you need a garage to park this thing in both to keep it warm and to keep it charged.

I think one of my biggest appeals is instant full torque at any speed. Most people say they like fast cars but I think what they mean is they like quick cars. Fast cars can drive at extreme speeds which is not practical on city streets, where as quick cars can get up to speed very fast. The Model S is one of the quickest cars on the market.

Check out this video of a Tesla whoopin an Aston with a head start:
