I understand your frustration, but you know you bought in a community that's still being built, with lots of areas around you still being formed, right? If you didn't want to deal with the hassles of new communities, you should have bought in an older one.

I have lived in sage hill for 3.5 years now and this is now less an issue than ever as shaghanappi is now open and progress on sarcee is going well so it seems that soon the trucks will be taking sarcee as it will be even closer to the quarries in order to access stoney trail. For accessing around evanston etc though they have no other option but symons valley so there will always be noise. I have lived with the noise since I moved of trucks, equipment, construction but you can tune it out
Yea, this is a NIMBY for sure. The trucks have been there LONG before those communities.
Welcome to city living.....
sagemeadows - nice first post. Gotta wonder if you're here to contribute to the forum or to just promote/push your own agenda?
Will fuck off, again.
I voted No!
As I live in the deep south, and therefore I am unaffected by said 'heavy trucks'.
Thanks SherlockOriginally posted by speedog

Also, the pictures on the facebook page....you bought a house backing onto symons valley road and expect them to divert all trucks because it is noisy
That should come under consideration when choosing a lot.
Where the hell does the OP expect them to go?

yeah, looking at some of the picture on there i'd say the developer fucked up... they should be petitioning for a noise barrier from the developer if anythingOriginally posted by schocker

This is exactly why we moved from Evergreen (James McKevitt race track at 2am) and pulled out of a lot in Royal Oak that was backing onto Country Hills.
At least the lot in Royal Oak had a fairly substantial piece of land between the road and the back of the home, but still.....
The last house we built we did a ton of research of the major projects that were planned and built far away from any road way.
As a Kincora resident, I don't agree with this.
While you're at it, consider writing to the airport to change their runway / flight plans too. The planes flying overahead are also annoying.
The dog leash guy is at it again.
Sounds like a fantastic idea.Originally posted by blitz
Who's up for starting a "Calgarians who like having access to gravel via Symon's valley road" facebook page?
I think we could beat their 23 likes in a day or so.

You know what I'm sick of? All my neighbors. I'm going to start a petition to have the city bulldooze every house in my cul-de-sac except mine, and turn it into a nice green space.

I live in Evanston and I don't agree with banning trucker traffic on Symons Valley Road. It's simply unrealistic to do that. However, what I do think is fair is to have stricter enforcement of traffic rules on these said truckers.
I've seen tons of these truckers drive side-by-side during rush hour. It blocks both lanes of traffic and, given the number of traffic lights we have there, makes the commute real fun. What ever happened to 'slower traffic stay to the right'?
Also, the amount of loose gravel that comes off the back of these trucks are amazing. I was driving behind one of these trucks and each time the truck ran over a bump, a portion of the gravel would spew out from the back. In the end, you get the entire lane filled with marble to fist-sized gravel... I'm not sure who pays the bill for cleaning up the gravel afterwards, but I'm guessing the city does.
Your “cause” is absurd and I’m pretty surprised any of those groups is actually serious about working with you. You bought in a location that is basically the primary access for an established gravel pit and will continue to be so for some time. Trying to force the company to change routes or the various levels of government to force them to erect mitigation measure is ridiculous. You should be going after yourself for doing no research before buying and maybe going after the developer to erect sound barriers on their/your dime.
See Crank. See Crank Walk. Walk Crank Walk.
Call the waaaambulance, Jesus Christ already no trucks = nothing gets done.
Maybe I'll start a Facebook page, "Symons Valley Road 11 PM nightly coal rolling convoy" lol
