Yes, cause if you switch lenders they will run it again. 600 is the minimum for the insurers, most lenders want 650, and a refinance is 680+… anything worse and you enter the alternative space, and with the way rates are these days you really don’t want that
Good to know. I've got quite a fall to 700 so let's start making some bad decisions!

How are you guys monitoring your credit scores?
Can't say this is something I've really looked into.

Most banks have it as a "feature" now, transunion or the like.

    I also have equifax.

Borrowell checks equifax, credit karma checks transunion. Both are free to use (they make money by referring credit card offers)

How long does old shit take to come off your report anyway? Credit Karma (transunion) shows something that hasn't reported since 2009, and something else from 2018, and both have been closed since then.

Not that my score matters, but I'd just like the correct number of accounts to be showing.

It’s up to the credit grantor to remove an old account… nothing says they have to though

Hah, now that I'm looking they have an incorrect address on file too. I mean, they have three addresses on file and one is somewhere I have never lived and in fact doesn't exist (it's just my current address but NE instead of NW).

I havent been "employed" in mannny years, credit report shows i work for a Wireless carrier? They said they wouldnt change it. Also wrong address. Also closed accounts over 10 years old.

Seems like a solid system to run financial institutions on.

Perhaps show it to little boys and if it turns out to impress them, then it's possible that you will succeed in sucking off more little boys?
This would be a net benefit from your perspective, as well as an exploitation.

there's some threshhold where it literally doesn't make any difference. I forget the exact number, but it's something around 800. So going from 860 to 880 is useless except for posting on the internet to show off.

I feel like that threshold number is way lower than you think.

    Like 600 lol

It’s basically a binary outcome, acceptable or junk.

You are probably right, Eric would know. He's posted it before.

Also credit score matter more for poor folks than beyonder as well.

I bet you're both right in that it's essentially pass/fail; however, if someone who was >832 started taking on absolutely massive, crippling loans, they would be allowed to go farther more quickly than someone who wasn't in the top tier.

hmm, not likely. there are more factors into getting new credit than the credit score. I'm willing to bet if all things equal, 750 vs 850 has the same future borrowing power.
