New RVs have plenty of issues, while trolling the dealers yesterday I was noticing how many were in getting roofs redone - there was one 2013 getting a complete rebuild due to rot... Yeah - I'll take a warranty

110% true. I spent more time and money fixing shit in the 2 years of owning my 2007 trailer than I did 6 years of owning my 1987. New trailers are crap compared to the older ones imo.

If I had to do it over I'd go new with as much warranty as possible. I'm still happy I bought mine outright and have no payments, I was shocked when the RV dealer told me they finance 15-20 years on trailers.

I think I'd run from that dealer if I saw them fixing a roof on a brand new trailer. I know lots of people with trailers and I don't know anyone that's had to take it in for warranty work.

Maybe small things that we fix ourselves but nothing like that.

You also get what you pay for. Do your research.

This is the next question... quick phone call says a certain dealer in arizona - will sell us the same unit ~20% less than the same models at the local dealers. Without even haggling - even mentioned they take canadian $ money orders. They say no warranty hassles but...

We're in no rush, have some saving todo to pay for it anyway...

What's the gvw and pin weight? That looks like a pretty big trailer for a 1/2 ton.

1/2 tons have the power and towing capacity but the pin weight can be an issue

Keep documenting your search. Wife and I are talking about doing the exact same thing with going into the US.

7995 and 1400 on that one - trying to find the 25' version...

It is designed as a 1/2t towable... but i might eyeball a 3/4ton next year

That doesn't sound too bad. You may be a bit over depending on how much you put in the bed and which half ton but certainly not terrible.

I wouldn't worry too much about it in Alberta but I have heard that they can be hardasses in BC.

Towing a 5th is so much nicer than a bumper pull. It never moves, although I still think a bumper pull is easier to maneuver when backing up.

Yeah, the wolfpacks a little better on pin weight like 5-600lbs better - but theres ways to screw with pin weight too... its all about loading heavy stuff behind the axle...

I just scored a great deal on a '97 Terry 26' fifth wheel, seems that as soon as the September long weekend is over, the RVs go up for sale.

Lots of stuff available now in these parts, I assume it's the same everywhere.
