A little too late IMO. They should've done this years ago, just desperation at this point. iMessage, WhatsApp, Facebook chat, Skype, so many other options to choose from for multi platform messaging.

Blackberry is STILL huge for a lot of corporations. City of Calgary still uses blackberrys as a main phone.

At first I was like OOH BBM for Android then realized that this was something I was looking for 4 years ago.

All 2 of my friends on BB use whatsapp. No point in getting BBM.

Anyone comparing Whatsap and BBM and saying whatsap is better, obviously haven't used BBM.

I think Blackberry is garbage, but BBM is 100 times better that whatsap.

If it works anything like BBM on Blackberry, I'll be using it.

Lol. RIM. Their motto should be too little too late.

WhatsApp is a far superior program and is already cross platform. I use it for all my group conversations and also when traveling.

i have whatsapp... but never used it. but i also have a berry

bbm lets you file share, video and voice chat, screen share... but its more so how its embedded into the phone that makes it great. which probably wont crossover to other platforms

IMO BBM's just a cleaner interface (whatsapp is great but kind of feels childish, similar to the complaints about ios7). Plus BBM integrates beautifully......with blackberries (which I use).

Would I choose BBM over Whatsapp? In a heartbeat. Will my friends? Not a chance.

I use wechat, fb messenger, google hangout, Whasapp on a regular basis.
IMO "wechat" beats them all. I use it as a walkie talkie.

That was actually an interesting read comparing the two apps. Are the Android and iOS versions really running on the RIM Private Network?

BlackBerry confirmed they are laying off 4,500 employees due to a net loss of almost 1 BILLION dollars in Q2 because nobody wants their phones.

I can't really see BBM catching on too quickly haha. It won't steal many WhatsApp customers either.

Z10 is about to get cheap, and the new "flagship" Z30 is already packed with 1-2 year old specs.
