Earphones // Android // Volume // Mic // Track

Wondering if anyone has recommendations for decent commuter earphones with volume control, next/previous track buttons, and a microphone for use on any Android phone. I was looking at the multi IEM shootouts and were interested in the ThinkSound TS02+mic or the Beyerdynamic MMX101iE but either only comes with a mic. Just looking for durable earphones with a slight emphasis in bass (i.e. 'fun' as they call it). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I picked up something for my Samsung Galaxy S2 X awhile back and it never did work. I'd probably get something locally in case it doesn't actually work as advertised. I'd really like to get one for my N4. Did you buy anything yet?

Got the beyerdynamic MMX 101 iE from NCIX locally. I don't think there are any Android earphones with mic + track/vol controls. Even on 4.2/3 the volume control already doesn't work with headset apps that registers single/double/triple clicks on the single button.

Do those do the basic call function or at least have the earpiece/mic work on your android?

Everything else works except volume. You need an app to trigger and register single/double/triple button for functions. Also long press is reserved for Google Now on newer Andriod versions.

This is a shitty problem that I just don't understand. I was surprised to learn that the controls on my old earphones didn't work on my new Android phone, and when I did some research, it seems like there aren't any that do (for 3-button controls). I think I read that it's something to do with the plug-in spec that Android phones use, which are different from Apple's (obviously). Either way, it's a stupid problem that shouldn't exist this far down the product life cycle.
