It's all pre-pay out here in BC, I guess I forgot that Alberta isn't the same. I always pre-paid at the pump for gas in Calgary.

From what I have seen most gas n gos are people that don't pre-pay at the pump properly. They just stick there card in, then pull it out. Cops see this on the camera recording and don't charge them.

Cops only charge you if you appear to be intentionally stealing gas. You get get away with ignorance at the pump.

If your system is set up so that there is no input from the attendent required to begin fueling, you could have a case.

At least where I worked, if someone prepaid properly, there was no input needed from inside to activate the pump. It just turned on once the card was accepted, not done right = no gas. On the other hand, if you just picked up the nozzle to start pumping, the attendent was required to turn the corresponding pump on. In that case, no pre-pay + just driving off = theft.

I have not pre-payed before and barely would recognize that there is someone inside flipping a switch. As we all know there are a lot of people in the world who would just not be paying attention and would just assume their card worked even if someone inside hit the switch.

    You'd figure they'd all be pre-pay now.
I've read that they want people to come inside after fueling so they'll be tempted to buy more overpriced crap. Pay at the pump = less people in the store
