Anyone going to the MT border soon? I have a few small items that I need to grab and I'm still waiting on a replacement passport.
Did you find anyone going for a run to Montana? I have a sit/stand desk in Montana and debating if I should use Dykpost or make a run down there myself.

I'm trying to use DYK Post right now for some TPMS sensors I have sitting at Montana Mailbox and what a clusterfuck, god are they slow, and they refuse to give me an ETA for when I'll get my parcel. If you run down yourself this week or early next I'll give you some gas money

yeah, with DYK, figure 2 weeks from when it arrives in Montana. When I used them, it saved me $125 compared to having it shipped straight to my house.

Ugh, yah definitely still worth it as the part I bought from Toyota USA doesn't even ship here, but man are they slow.

Uplift wanted $625 USD to ship a desk to me in Calgary, or it was free shipping within the US. I'll still probably save a bunch of time/money using them, but would rather pay someone else who is already going down there.

I'll be in Syracuse, NY from 30th July until the 5th August

If it will fit in a hockey bag or pelican 1610 and doesn't weigh a huge amount...ship it to my hotel and i'll bring it back for ya!

Would have offered for Houston this week, but I've got a fuck ton of booze to come back for my family visiting and several August birthdays

Technically they could check country of origin and make you pay duty, but in the dozens of times I've picked up parts and brought them back I've only ever had to pay GST. Just show them your paypal receipts/emails for the parts you bought, they'll add everything up, exchange it to CAD (at their posted rate) and charge you GST on that amount.

On the way down, you tell em you are picking up items at the border storage facility.
On the way back, you tell them you picked up items at the border storage facility, and you show them the detailed receipt for each item you picked up.

If they ask you to go inside to the cashier, you go in there. If not, you don't.

Same experiences as 94boosted. They don't seem to care about parts origin of manufacture, but they hounded the shit out of me for clothing. I had over $2000 in parts and only paid GST, but $200 in clothes and they made me open each and every one to find the country.

Main thing is have all your invoices ready to hand over to the booth so you look semi-competent and they're usually okay. I've had to go inside once as they tagged all my 3d printer filament as wheel rims because the lady saw the pic and just entered that code then they wanted to know why/how I was bringing back 120 wheels in a Fiesta. Was entertaining after getting all sorted out.

Yeah have all your paperwork ready. You may have some from your email that you should print out and bring with you, and you may get some from the border storage place. Be organized. You want value, description, country of origin if at all possible.

Do you guys remember when I went down for cloth diapers? Hah, that was funny. The border guys laughed, the cashier laughed. I must have posted about that.

Yeah it's no rush for me guys. I was just looking to pickup a component for my squat rack, so if someone is making a run between now whenver and it can hitch a ride back, that would be cool Doesn't have to be this month - obviously next month or whatever works is fine as it can sit at the border crossing for however long too.

Let me know and I will order.

    Thanks.

Anyone know if it is possible to rent a homedepot van for a day and cross the border with it to do a pickup? Or is anyone thinking of going down soon who would have room for 3 long boxes (approx 240 lbs total)?

Unlikely allowed to bring a HD rental across the border. Some mainstream car-rental places won't even let you per the policies.
