Then don't cock tease Calgarians that an option is to give it back. And by giving it back does not mean cutting a cheque out to everyone, it means cutting taxes for the next year, costs nothing just like you said. Except that's not happening, because it's being spent already.Originally posted by bspot
Keeping the ~$50MM
Collectiong $50MM in tax, then distributing it back to tax payers has a large amount of overhead, and is one of the biggest wastes of money I can think of. I would have been pissed off if they gave it back. Keep it now, tax people less in the future because you had a $50MM windfall.
Well he must be doing a great job, because our debt now sits at $3.2-$3.4B.Originally posted by bspot
Property Taxes Went Up
The current council inhereited a city with $1.5BB in debt. I'm glad someone is finally trying to actually run the city with a balanced budget instead of just screwing over the next council.

How is that possible you may ask?
HELOC that bitch! He's beyond screwing the next council... it's a dry cock, lube free, bloody ass fuck at this point.Mayor Naheed Nenshi, like the once debt-averse provincial Tories are now doing, likens capital borrowing to home mortgages. Planning for the future shouldn’t mean waiting to pay for a house in cash, he said in a year-end-interview this week.
As long as there is a steady stream of future grants or other revenue sources to borrow against — and Calgary remains within its limits — Nenshi said he’s comfortable borrowing more.
