    Will you be speeding?

Hey legit question, will cops let other cops (different cities) off the hook? haha

I drove back yesterday to Calgary. Took about 4.5-5 hours. Roads are fine just your normal dumb drivers putting their cars into the ditch.

x2!!! Good God, two extra hours on a 3 hour drive?!!! That's a nightmare drive.

I find too many drivers, especially women, sorry ladies but I'll take the flame...have no idea how to "read" the condition of the road.
Driving down McLeod by 162nd the other night and this lady was doing 55 km/h just because there was snow everywhere on the side. yet the pavement was completely bare, white in colour, with no reflection. No different than a cold day in the summer. Easily driveable at 80-100 km/h (the normal speed for that stretch).

Compare that to going onto the Deerfoot from Eastbound Anderson, on the curve, at around 5:00 and the pavement was bare, but very dark in colour, with a bit of "sheen" to it. Sheer black ice. This lady goes wipping past me and starts to slide...

NO idea how to read the road condition. Both bare pavement but 1000% difference in how slippery they were.

If it wasn't for cars in the ditch and people slowing down to look it would had been 3 hours or less.

    You cant teach common sense.

I can tell by how the road sounds in the car and how light the steering becomes in my car the moment the road conditions change. Not perfect, but mentally active at least.

It was fine. 3 hours door to door at 127 km/h.

No problems at all... Wasn't even that busy.

I speed yes. I drive with the flow of traffic. 110 on the QE2 is slow.

And I dunno. There's no way the cop would ever know I'm a PO if I got stopped. I certainly wouldn't pull my badge out haha

There is speeding when roads are 100% perfect and then there is dangerous speeding.

I drove to Banff to this weekend and I counted 3 cars in the ditch one of which I helped get out and 1 that went over a cliff.

There were cars doing 120km/h on that highway with the winds blowing snow across the highways and winds so strong it was pushing me back and forth on the highway.

I was doing the speed limit and sometimes less as I felt driving any faster could result in something bad.

The QE2 is even WORSE than the highway to Banff due to the winds that blow across that highway making it slick and very dangerous.

Well the QE2 was in mint condition today and I had zero problems at almost 130. If it was shitty, I drive slower. It was a beauty day all the way past Red Deer; sunny and cold. Makes for a nice drive.

There's a big snow fall warning for northern Alberta as well today.

I've lived in Alberta for a long while and have never heard of a "flash freeze warning" before. (I know what it means.)

Is this a new term that Environment Canada started using?
