Yup, it sort of sucks for the driver but as a consumer its a wonderful policy. Nothing is worth than grabbing a cab outside a bar and not remembering what company it was that picked you up.

    Bumppity bump bump.

Thread's been kind of dead - curious as to how things are going for any beyond Ubers? Are the monies being earned enough to cover all of the real and hidden expenses? Can you make a reasonable living off of your left over Uber monies? Is it quite busy? Are you even still at it?
    Will fuck off, again.

Just an FYI, Uber is launching in Red Deer. Target date of Sept 8.

If you're ever in RD, uber it up! I might come get you in my Optima!

I still do it here and there. I could not imagine doing it for a living but for extra pocket change and fuding my solar panels and toys it works out.

Hey Gestalt, what other documents do I need to have with me while driving for Uber? (Other than my licence, registration, personal insurance.)

Probably discussed a ton but what are the insurance rates like? I know there are only a few companies that will insure. What kind of liability do they offer? I would assume you'd want a significant liability package I wouldnt be comfortable with a standard personal 2 million.

Its kind of a rip of because you are covered by uber when on a trip.

Yah. Covered by Uber insurance while on a trip with a pax. I think the AB government came up with that rule... something about Intact providing it for drivers...?

EDIT: A driver still needs their own personal insurance with a rideshare endorsement tho.

question for the uber drivers that frequent this board, I am trying to get a better understanding of how uber works from a drivers perspective. When you accept a trip, does the gps not only load the address that they put into the system as well as a little icon of where the passenger is? or is it just the address that is loaded? Thanks in advance!

I haven't driven for Uber but in talking with drivers my understanding is they do not see your destination until they've picked you up. Initially all they see is the pickup location and your profile. Then once you get in and they hit start trip, it loads the destination.

like this. they do this on purpose so you don't decline trips that might be short, or away from where you want to go.

So ya, I'm getting cancelled for a short trip. What a piss off, waited 7 mins till guy was around the block and had to do another trip and another 7 min wait. I wanted to find and kick Rahul's ass.

If thats the case then rate him 1 star. Since they need to maintain a 4.6 star rating that'll take him a dozen good 5 star fares to make up the difference. If he does that to you and a few other people hes fucked.
