If thats the case then rate him 1 star. Since they need to maintain a 4.6 star rating that'll take him a dozen good 5 star fares to make up the difference. If he does that to you and a few other people hes fucked.
You cant rate a cancelled trip. Thats an interesting tact. You arent technically supposed to start your trip until you have confirmed your passnger by name.

If you have a high cancelled percent they can bump you and keep you waiting longer for trips apparently. I have got a texted warning if by trip acceptance rate falls below 80%

I had a driver bail on me when I was in SF. Didn't want to drive me to the airport... Saw my luggage and fucked off. Nice.

Your in Edmonton and you wanted to save 2 bucks,,but then again 2 bucks can by some bulk rice or a couple of cans of generic spam on sale.
I don't use Uber to save money. I use Uber for the consistent user experience whenever I travel. In fact this was surge pricing at the Guns and Roses concert, the trip is normally under $20 on UberX and it costed me $50 to get there on UberX and $90 to get back on UberSelect due to lack of cars. This was the first time in around 100 trips that I got fucked over with a cancellation.

What bapoend? He accepted your trip early then canceled once he saw where you were going?
Accepted trip. 1 min away. Then cancelled. Had to do it all over again with another driver so had to wait 7 mins again for the next car.

First thing I did, 1 star rating, although it's not showing up anymore.

I was initially able to rate it but I can't see the option anymore and doesn't show my 1 star rating.

So ya, I'm getting cancelled for a short trip. What a piss off, waited 7 mins till guy was around the block and had to do another trip and another 7 min wait. I wanted to find and kick Rahul's ass.
IMHO he looks like one of those guys that'd sign up to drive just to meet chicks, so when he saw ur mug he prob bailed. Don't tell me the thought never crossed any of y'all minds.

I don't understand how proving you'll work for minimum wage (or less after expenses) is a good way to meet women. Does the fry cook at McDonald's also drown I'm pusssy? Is this a millennial thing?

I haven't driven for Uber but in talking with drivers my understanding is they do not see your destination until they've picked you up. Initially all they see is the pickup location and your profile. Then once you get in and they hit start trip, it loads the destination.
i'm sorry I wasn't quite clear in my first post. I meant do they see the address that it gps'd you to using your location as well as a small icon of the actual location of the person (from my side the pickup location is a grey dot and i'm always a blue dot, essentially showing me and where I requested the car to.....if that makes sense)

Here's the rundown of what happened and why I am asking. I ordered an uber to take me from douglasglen to mission. easy enough. the driver that accepted my trip was on glenmore and barlow. no worries. I proceed to watch him drive down barlow, turn into the deerfoot inn and casino parking lot for 7 minutes. he then proceeds to come out of there and get back onto 114 ave and wait through two different lights for no reason instead of making a left from the parking lot and following it to 118 ave. so when he gets me I asked him the reason for the delay. he said that the address I put in was a loading dock? I told him the app tells me the location and I was standing at the front door when I ordered the car. the drive was honestly one of the worst I have had with uber, he was constantly under the speed limit, couldn't merge properly, couldn't read road signs properly and he actually said he's been a professional driver for 12 years. lol. actually kinda scary. gave him my very first one star rating.

so that's where my question of whether or not they can just see the address or the address and the location of the passenger your supposed to pick up came from.

Well, I drove my first weekend in Red Deer for Uber. I drove from 10:00 pm to 3:00am Friday and Saturday. Quite the interesting thing to do. Uber had provided a promotion for drivers to earn more this weekend. Not exactly sure why... maybe they just wanted to be in drivers good books. There are now no other promotions coming up tho.

Anyway, my final earnings number is around $350 (burned almost $40 in fuel total). That also includes a short, slow Thursday night. Friday was busy but Saturday was the best... I was flying all over the place. That's the good thing about Red Deer... numerous trips can be done in an hour and night time traffic is minimal. Everything works so smoothly.

The demographic I hauled around was a mix of everyone, younger bar stars, middle aged couples, a few seniors. The service is being received well with some describing it as "the best service to ever come to Red Deer" and "I'm never calling a cab again."

The rider and driver apps work well. People love the simplicity of cashless.

Most of all my passengers were great people. Courteous and 90% of the time, I did receive a tip... Sometimes I got double the fare in a tip.

One thing I noticed was some larger groups just assumed you'd be ok with packing your vehicle full passengers. I'd pull up and next thing I see is 5 or 6 people coming to get in my car that holds a max of 5. Kind of annoying.

There was a late 20-something couple plus their friend I picked up... the two women weren't getting along. About halfway thru the trip, they really started arguing... screaming, yelling. Kind of awkward but whatever. The guy tried to calm them down but it was past that point. I ended up getting them home before the fists started flying.

I had two rider no shows. I gave them 15 mins to show up and attempted calling them a few times but no answer. That pisses a guy off but I guess it's to be expected.

Overall it was a pretty good experience. Met some cool people.

Not sure what you are asking, but you see an address, you hit "go" and then the app guides you to pick up. The issue I run into is, often, the app takes you to an alley behind the building or somthing strange like that. Happenns at least once a night. I think dorpping a pin, it suggests a address, youa ccept, but it guides you to the closes point to your pin maybe.

Im using here it London(UK) quite a bit.
Cars come right a way. Pretty much all the drivers have stories being laid off or being bum fucked by work.
One driver said when it first started it was good, now everyone is doing it and can be hard as so much competition. Its interesting to see the vehicles being used. A lot of them were Priuses. So had bigger vehicles.

My parents are elderly and are finding to so bizarre watching the vehicle in real time on the map.

On the receiving end of a love tap from an uber driver today, bumper scuffed and needs a polish. He was insistent on it being no damage but as soon as I dropped the "I" word (insurance) he was willing to drop some cash for a polish to make me go away.

Speedog's article was super interesting, seems as though it's un sustainable and their bubble will pop soon. But in the meantime it will be neat to see how long they can continue to attract investor dollars.

While interesting for sure, it appears to be written by someone clearly from a distant, outside perspective, without access to whats really happening.

The ultra rich are not into backing a failing scheme. The billions of dollars invested might appear NOW to be losing $$ and without a future, but there is obviously something much more important, and long term, going on. The ultra rich think big picture.

If a guy calls for an Uber from his house, say in NW Calgary, to the Saddledome, where does the driver drop you off at? Is the driver allowed to drop you off right in front of the Saddledome like the west entrance or do they drop off somewhere else close by?

I took an Uber to the Saddledome and they dropped us right at the front door. I did tell him that we were fine to be dropped a block away but because we had the kids in tow he insisted on taking us to the front door. This was a hitman game so it might be different for a flames game.

Last time I got dropped at the north entrance... where the cabs were dropping off. Wasn’t worth the time sitting in the parking traffic to get closer

So were your Uber's allowed into Stampede Park? Past the gate and what not? I'm being told that no Ubers are allowed to drop off or pick up inside the Park.

Wow. Not only allowed into the park, but a permanent pick up/drop off zone right in front of the main doors. Looks like the person I'm arguing with is really mistaken. Unfortunately, that person makes the rules at Westerner Park in Red Deer and she is telling us Uber drivers that we can not get into the park to drop off/pick up passengers. No drivers can get thru the park gates.

Reason why I asked my question here is because in her email to me, she said Stampede Park doesn't allow rideshare drivers in either and they are following that....

Well guys I royally fucked up last night as a driver. I'm really beating myself up over it.

Last night, I received a trip request to drive a guy from Red Deer to Lacombe. I picked him up and headed that way. Got to Lacombe with no issue and dropped him off. I decided to take Hwy. 2A back to Red Deer to get more trip requests. I got south of Blackfalds and I'm cruising pretty good to make it back to Red Deer to receive more requests. Suddenly, red and blue lights appear out of nowhere on the east side of the Highway. I glance at my HUD and it shows I'm going 113kph. The speed limit is 80kph. I'm toast.

I got super sloppy with my speed. I've driven this road a 1000 times before. I know the enforcement is there and everything but I was so concerned with getting back to Red Deer to accept trips that I completely let it slip my mind. I can't believe I let it happen. I've been so good with my driving habits over the last 5 years or so. My 3 and 5 year abstracts were clean.

I pulled over immediately. Hazards on. Registration, Insurance, License out and ready to roll. Interior lights on.

The Sheriff approached my car and just said "I clocked you going 113 in an 80."
I said "Yah sorry man. I have no excuse. I'm just trying to get back to Red Deer to pick up passengers. I'm driving for Uber."
    He's says "Driving for who?
    I say "For Uber."
He looks at me with a blank stare and says "Who is Uber?"
I said "Uber. The transportation network company. It's like a taxi but not."

He passes me my reg and insurance and heads to his car. Comes back with a ticket.

The financial implications of the charge don't bother me. It's the demerits. It's 4 demerits and a 4 demerit conviction on my abstract will disqualify me from driving for Uber. I obviously DO NOT want this to happen. I love doing this job and don't want to lose it. Fuck. This really sucks.

Do you guys think I should talk to a lawyer about this? Or go to the courthouse and talk to someone there?
