Had a driver in Houston explain that they had a Durango with Leather because it allowed them to fit into the most possible categories.

Sounded more like a genuine complaint than a joke.

Being able to drive for the most Uber rides possible sounds like losing to me.

drivers in the Toronto area earn an average of $7.90 an hour, well below Ontario’s minimum wage of $15.50, after costs associated with using their personal cars for work are deducted from their pay, according to a new report by the advocacy group RideFairTO.
The report estimates that these costs – which include payments for things such as fuel, car insurance and maintenance – amount to at least $12 an hour for a typical driver. Excluding all the expenses, the average wage of an Uber driver in Toronto is about $20 an hour, according to the report. The figure does not account for tips.![]()
Small business owners have been exempted from the minimum wage since forever.
I am guessing many of these people are otherwise unemployable. If you make too much of a stink about this they go from making $8/hr to nothing.
Then how are they supposed to afford $2MM homes.

Is walking off the job just deleting the app?
500k new immigrants every year, the Ubers will explode.
I'm surprised they even make $7.90 an hour. Isn't that place crawling with drivers like ants?

Harder part IMO is the absolute shitshow of traffic that Toronto is. Hard to make money when you're inching along as the $/km is better than the time rate. Plus wasting a ton of time just trying to get to a pickup. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

So i chatted with our uber driver friday night about his wage ect. I was curious with everything in the news. During a huge rant about uber as a company, how shitty the app has been, the shit tips and trip cancellers, he said on average he will make about $200 profit on a 10 hour shift. Profit. I made sure to clarify. Surge pricing does it job well to balancing out the lows with the highs and the tips do help. He also said that he can 10x that on a day during stampede.
He also drive cab and said he prefers the cab driving because he can "pick the routes". I laughed when he said that as i knew what he was implying and he just smirked. My take away, is its all a fucking racket but my overall experience is always better with Uber. At least the vehicle was clean, didn't smell like piss, and had a suspension.
EDIT: I did ask him about the claims about earning less than minimum, he said its the lazy people that trying and cherry pick trips. Its a volume game and you need to hustle to make ok money.
