I'm embarrassed to say I voted for Nenshi. What a mistake (not that my vote would have prevented him from being mayor). I think he's the only political figure whose decisions have actually significantly affected my day to day life and it hate it haha.

I'm surprised he is even taking Lyft. He threatened Uber saying Lyft would gladly comply with his shitty restrictions and Lyft openly said they can't compete here with those requirements either.

Does Nenshi actually not like Uber? Or is his opposition to it strictly because he thinks this one representative of Uber is a "Dick"? What other things has he opposed for no other reason than some stupid personal bullshit? We all saw the petty stunt he pulled on Sean Chu couple weeks ago.

I only know one person who has regular contact with Nenshi, not daily mind you. But their description has always been that Nenshi is "petty, vindictive and condescending". Their description of Druh is even better, but that's for another thread.

Nenshi claims in that video that he wrote to the CEO of Lyft, inviting them to operate in Calgary. He's not completely against these ride sharing companies, do you guys not expect the mayor of your city to have some level of concern in public safety?

It's been mentioned in this thread already but from what I gather his behaviour in this video is fairly indicative of his standard behaviour when he knows the cameras are off.

I really don't see what the big deal about this video is, I just watched the whole thing, his behavior is perfectly reasonable through it. Aside from calling someone a dick, but really, who cares? Obama called Kanye a jackass twice and nobody gave a shit.

Is it damage control? Um, yes. Nenshi who never apologizes, even when it could easily avoid a pointless lawsuit has now apologized twice over this, he's absolutely in damage control.

"His behaviour is perfectly reasonable.............except for calling someone a Dick". I'd suggest as Mayor of our city the fact he called some a Dick makes his behaviour unacceptable. The Obama v Kanye analogy doesn't work either. The City was trying to work out a framework with Uber, how much of Nenshi's opinion of the Uber rep influenced his decision making? To my knowledge Obama and Kanye had no such relationship.

This is the first one of his many indiscretions that has typical Nenshi supporters upset. I'm actually surprised by that, a few pages back I predicted the opposite. I don't think it'll hurt him that much long term, but it's a pretty big deal. I saw it mentioned on both The National, and CTV National news last night, so it's kind of a big deal, no?
