^that about sums it up, I still use cabs a few times/year and they are super quick to get now.

I would also rate "quality" about equal between uber and cabs. Seems to mostly be the same people driving similar cars. That makes sense.

I do find cab drivers to be better overall drivers than Uber drivers.
Every time I get an uber driver I feel like they have never been in the city before and its like their second time driving.
Uber strike in USA today? Wonder if it will affect calgary at all. I assume if enough shit off the app, the rest will get surge pricing?

I've been comparing fares on my usual routes here in Saskatoon, Uber is averaging about 20% more expensive than cab fares. Anyone do a similar comparison there?

Uber only saves me money now that I have moved and have longer rides. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
When I lived close to downtown here a cab would be cheaper (slightly) and more convenient. As in I can walk outside on stephen ave and grab a cab.
I find Cabs neutral in cost overall to Uber.

I use uber and cabs relatively infrequently, but I hate cabs/dealing with cabbies so much that I'd gladly pay 20% more for Uber.
Do you find the uber drivers any different in Calgary? Seem like the exact same people to me.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I take sedans between my house and the airport. One of the younger drivers gave me his number, and I just iMessage him with my details and he picks me up. Consistent service!

Locally I threw this on fbook too, seems to be the consensus that longer hauls are better priced with Uber while shorter vary but are often more.

That’s due to the pay structure of both. Minimum charges, then kms based travel vs time basedThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I'm 50/50 on them being the same people. I was more-so referring to not having to constantly watch where they're driving so they aren't doing random laps to rack up my fare on the way there. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

How is that implying racial superiority? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
He is implying that there tend to be immigrants in the rideshare/taxi industry - just like many other industries.
Brother sent me this from work, seems like pretty good traction down in sfo. But Uber in sfo is so reasonably priced.

Definitely agree. In Red Deer, in-city trips are comparable to cab fares. The only exception is if you specifically order a mini van cab. The meter starts at $7.00. But if you have a larger group, you pretty much have to because Red Deer doesn't have XL service. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If you have to get to Sylvan Lake, Blackfalds, Lacombe, Penhold, then the fares for Uber are way, way cheaper.
Of course surge throws most of this out the window and cabs become cheaper.
