I'm guessing this is the NW Kinjo?
The one by Chinook seems fine to me, portions seems comparable to Zipang from my experience.

but yes I wouldnt rate it highly for quality.

Looks like Oishii is taking off! 1.5-2hour wait for tables tonight. It's making Riverbend hopping with all the traffic. The mall is now 100% capacity.

tried Oishii down in Riverbend earlier this evening and food was ok, IMO the premium menu is not worth it, tried most of the food in it and the only thing I liked was the Ikura sushi (salmon roe).

complaint is that their service is slow, i'm guessing because they are still new but basically we had to wait about 15-20min per order. had to ask our waitress to refill our water and some of the items we ordered never arrived or we had to ask for them.

overall though food was good, i might go back again with friends & family but will skip on the premium menu.
otherwise there are better sushi out there, specially since lately what i prefer on getting is a chirashi bowl.

I echo taemo's sentiments. The other thing I thought that was weird was the mandatory 15% gratuity on groups of 6+; for the slow service and the continual mixed items, the 15% gratuity seems excessive. Last I remember, most places have the fixed rate for groups of 8-10+

This place fucking sucks. I'm sitting here at Oishii hungry as fuck, I put in numerous orders of sashimi and none of it is coming, and when it does, it's totally less than what I ordered. Been here over 2 hours and still sooooo hungry. About to fall asleep here.

Guess I'm eating McDonalds tonight? WTF.

    FUCK.

Agreed - its best if you do go, make sure you put in a reservation.

Lunch AYCE isn't that great. Dinner is good, aside from the service as mentioned.

went there back at the end of November, this time with our parents and sister, food was still good, likewise service was still slow and unorganized, we had to ask our waitress to give us a piece of paper and pen so that we could write down our orders and just give it to her instead of waiting until she has time for us every 15-20min.

so next time, bring some piece of paper and a pen

if the service there is that bad, why you guys leaving tips? Tips are for good service. Leave tips for bad service and it'll never get better.

InRich - unfortunately the gratuity is already "cooked" into the bill for groups of 6+ I guess for those with groups of 5 or less, that would be an option

Kinjo on macleod is better than half the places mentioned in this thread I think. Tastes are subjective I guess.

Should note I don't often eat rolls, so if that's your thing then my experience will be different.

I tired Momo-Yama sushi two nights ago from a recommendation from a gwai lo, it was mediocre. Great sate-style hot sauce though.

I thought food services was bad everywhere before, now without TFWs, it's even worse.
