First of all, you're a jerk for getting to drive this car.

Second of all, I remember in the older generatinos they used to have an option for a flip up rear facing 3rd row of seats, basically the closing point on my argument with anyone on why this is a better kid hauler than any minivan or SUV. Is that still an option?

Please please please depreciate 50% of your value in 4 years!!! I wish more people bought these because I know they will be impossible to find on the used market, and I can't afford one new

A wagon will never beat a minivan for being a kid hauler, no matter how many kids it can fit.

However a wagon is a much better choice for someone who cares about what they drive.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

The E63S Wagon does not have 3rd row seating as an option. It's only available in the E350 Wagon. I believe it has something to do with the spare tire.

You can retrofit the 3rd row seating and get rid of the spare tire though.

While this car won't be as hard to find as the R63, it's still going to be tough. Mercedes-Benz only makes 10 of these per month. Can't remember if that's NA or worldwide, benyl can confirm.

Someone buy one and I'll pay you $1000 for a deposit for when you eventually decide to sell it

I know the third row doesn't make it as useful as a minivan, but I'd put a giant roof box on it and have the small trade off in practicality balanced out by oversteering around corners and putting down 577hp for corner exits on every on-ramp

Just saw there is a 2005 E500 with a third row for sale.

    AWD
    7 passengers
    300hp V8
    $14K

How reliable were those? Are they pretty brutally expensive to own? Difficult to work on? (My reference point being Audi and Volvo)

You'd actually put your kids in the trunk facing backwards?

That may work once they are older, maybe.
I love wagons. I can't wait for our 3 kids to be a bit bigger. My dream (realistic) wagon would be the E class 4 matic diesel

The production numbers are 10 per month for the whole world in E63 form. They make a hell of a lot more of the regular wagon.

The real piss off is that the E63 wagon is supposed to be order only, yet dealers in the US are ordering them for stock pushing back production slots for other areas in the world. That combined with the shortage of Carbon Fibre has you waiting 3-6 months to get a production slot if you ordered one today.

The issue with the 3rd row has to do with the spare tire. Because of the 14.2 inch rotors, you need a pretty funky looking spare tire. That spare tire is super convex and is therefore wider. In order to put the 3rd row down, you would have to drop the floor or get rid of the spare and go with run flats.

I think the spare has a crazy +100 offset. have a look:

Naw, I'd shove their friends back there

Thats the thing, the only time I'd need more than 4 passengers is lugging twerp friends around, which would probably be fairly rare.

The 4 matic diesel would also be a great car... I can't wait to watch them all depreciate while I decide which one is best.

When they throw up, it'll be at the rear window and not all over the leather and yourself.

That is an amazing car.. maybe I will replace my minivan with it in a few years if I can find one cheaply.

Ironic part of this post is the Canadian Pardon Services ad in the top right - because that is what I would need if I had this car.
