So $24k USD vs $30k CDN on the Si means that the type-r shall be $44,900!

Didn't realize it came with 20s though.

Not bad price so we should be around low $40's.
And their rubber is only good for ~15-20K kmOriginally posted by schocker

I wish you could get non-black rims for these. First thing I'd do is remove the giant wing and it wouldn't look so ricey.
$23,900 vs $28,490 is the USA/CAD sedan SI price splitOriginally posted by schocker

so straight across $33,900 would make the Canadian CTR ~$40,300. I doubt this is how they price these things though given possible difference in equipment levels and different place of manufacture compared to Si.
My guess is $41,490 msrp.
I wonder what sparked the decision to equip the cars with 20" wheels. I imagine this must be the first compact to ever sport 20" wheels stock. IMO 19" seems like the outer range for this type of car and 18" optimal. Maybe they felt that they needed a wheel this big to fill out the wheel wells?

If GM did it, it would have 20" wheels AND still a comically large wheel gapOriginally posted by Sugarphreak
20" wheels?
WTF is this... a GM move?
I don't seem much wheel gap on the Camaro or Corvette.Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

So all this MSRP talk and the best part isn't even out yet.
Honda (unofficially) will announce a "base" type R for the '18 model year. It should cut the price by 2-2.5k estimated.
It may not make it here though since our civics (Si anyway) tend to follow touring trim unlike our southern neighbors.
But 31-32k USD for this car is pretty spectacular.

At 41k I'll likely buy one if I can find it. I let go of my #1 spot at the dealer because they wanted 5grand deposit. I'm not even sure it was refundableOriginally posted by Aleks

Are people in Canada lining up to buy these things? As I recall the Inegra Type R was kind of a slow mover when it was available in North America so I imagine once the initial surge of sales die down you should be able to get one no problem for MSRP or maybe even less (It's been over a decade since I've seriously discussed pricing in any Honda dealership so I have no idea how they are to deal with these days).
Who knows. With WRX STI and Focus RS, how many of these enthusiasts are left?Originally posted by heavyD

Golf R, Focus RS and STI are all high 40s with AWD. So I would guess a FWD R at low 40s sounds right. But not sure anyone but hard core fanboy would pick it over the 3 AWD counterparts.

I'd pony up the money for one if I had it. Total Honda fanboy lately.
It's quite loaded as a touring trim.Originally posted by Sugarphreak
Just the fact that it is FWD kind of kills it for me, if I am going to pony up 40~50K for a car, it better have AWD (or at least RWD) and at least a few luxury features that make it worth that much
Not to mention the boy-racer styling is an open invitation for police to harass you.
I feel ya on the fwd thing.. but I believe it'll be very capable and be able to put the power down.

Learned the hard when buying the sti when it first came out in 2015. Hard to get. Shitty rates. No discounts. The year after they got touch screen.
I'm waiting this time .
The features are actually very impressive, but I agree SH-AWD would have made this thing significantly more desirable yet.Originally posted by Sugarphreak

I actually found my Si to be pretty lacking in bells and whistles. Many other vehicles either came with or had the following as options in 2007, and mine you couldn't even get them as options:
Heated seats
Heated steering wheel
Factory remote start
Bluetooth
Navigation/touch screen
USB
Power/remote trunk release
Estimated fuel economy/distance until empty
It does seem that Honda has stepped it up in this area now too, very good to see.
