Link? I haven’t found anything for price.
I think he’s referring to the 2020 MY?

Edit: In the US, the 2020 price went up by $695 and in Canada it went up by $2000. Are we getting more features or are we getting gouged?

Yeah standard 2020. I’m thinking the ‘21 LE is going to be 50k.

Since the 2018 Canadian model, this car has gained over 10% in MSRP lol.

Not so value driven anymore. Still the fanboy in me is excited for it lol.

Not 10%. I marthed it. About $3,000 or so more than initial release I think.

Do you guys think this limited edition run will be the last of this Type R series given Swindon shutdown? is this similar hype to Evo X last edition in 2015? or kinda like what Nissan did with GTR?

It will be the last of this generation. Next generation will be build in the USA. Personally I don't feel the Civic Type R is a good value at $45k. FWD, manual transmission, cheap interior materials, body panel gaps galore. Not a lot of bang for your buck at that price.

I hear you. Do you have CTR now or Evo X?

I drove CTR a few months back, found it lots of fun and then thought I must own this. I found STI/ VW R a bit boring in comparison (they're just not set up as cars that are hyper). The next day I was in a friend's Fiesta ST and all I could think was - ST is 95% of the fun at 1/3 of the price...

In many ways, ST or Evo X do the job just fine.

Neither now. CTR is the only car of this type I haven't owned as I've owned EVO X, STI, Golf R. Just driving an X3M Competition as I finally caved into the dark side and bought my first SUV. I'm still a car guy but this isn't so bad as 503 hp is the highest of any stock vehicle I've owned.

If you are looking for a more fun car and think Fiesta ST was fun, why not get a used Focus RS? Will be even more fun, and less cost than new CTR, STi, Golf R, etc.
Also car is made in Germany :P

Have you driven a Focus RS?

I have a buddy that's cross shopping STI, Golf R, FoRS. I'm interested to see which one you think you'd go with for a DD.

I have driven or been a passenger in all 3 of those cars and IMHO for a daily driver: Golf R > STI > Focus RS for comfort. FoRS ride is really harsh and the Golf R is a lot more comfortable on Calgary's garbage roads, in my opinion. Also, DSG is a pretty big bonus unless he's after a manual specifically.

FoRS is harsher because of stiffer suspension, but if you are looking for fun factor, it is hard to beat.
I personally have no issues with FoRS but I do acknowledge you do feel more bumps. It doesn't bother me at all.

Turning radius however ... I do not recommend if you frequent tight parking lots often.

Some springs easily fix the suspension issue. I hated my RS stock, now it's perfect

I do agree, I love the RS, back and fore test driving the RS/ Golf R/ Civic R, I still say the RS is the best and most fun to drive, and it sounds the best too .... it also come with winter wheel and tire ... but when I was giving "hint" to my wife that I want to buy a Ford .. she gave me black faces .. so I bought the "Honda" instead ..

I had the same as well for a bit, but she turned around. Not that it really mattered in my decision anyways, but she loved the color, loved how limited it is and don't see many around, and it is very fun to ride around in. Besides, car is made in Germany and designed by a lead German engineer. The car itself is more German than some ACTUAL German brands. No need to get hung up about how it is a "Ford" badge if you understand this.

If I am going to pick RS/Civic R now, I think I would go for the RS!

I hadn't even looked at Focus RS as I thought I read it had engine issues earlier on and chalked that up to Ford reliability? Is that false?

Have you driven CTR in comparison or whats unique about RS fun?

I'm actually very open to it - I heard one some time ago and had to turn around to see what sounded so good.

They supplied a small initial run with the headgasket from a similar but different engine, and it was missing one or two holes for coolant channels. It's pretty easy to find cars that were produced after that small batch with the correct headgasket, or find cars that simply had the engine replaced before they could diagnose the problem correctly (there's one for sale like this in Ont right now). I wouldn't be super concerned, just cognisant of which one you buy.

I put in a deposit, but it felt too easy. I have feeling it's a lottery? Or is it a legit reservation?

I reserved mine a few months ago, they did not ask for a deposit.

From my perspective, it will be a lottery system.

I got the same email from Honda offering me first dibs on one - I don't think there is anything lucky about it. It's one of those "Exclusive" offers that they send to their entire mailing list. If they get too many orders, maybe it will switch to a lottery.

Is the 2021 any different than the 2020 that is currently getting re-reviewed everywhere? With a full generational overhaul of the Civic right around the corner, they are probably just trying to milk the last little but out of the outgoing versions. I would wait, personally, unless it's just a quick lease & dump.
