Judging from some of the cornering speeds in the slower corners it's most likely on a R tire. Honda was purposely vague about what tires were used.Originally posted by 01RedDX
100% legit. How are the H8ers gonna spin this?
Still like the car.

Prototype. Tell me when they post a time with a production car on production tires.
They fully plan to. What's interesting about that is they wouldn't have released a number the production version couldn't match, if not beat.Originally posted by Mibz

Honda is not like that, we all know it.

IMO there are alot of factors that don't add up about this car so far and how do we "know Honda is not like that" they have been on cruise control for 15 years. This isn't the 90's, and this isn't the same Honda.

Haven't read any evidence to support M4 wearing race tires for its time anywhere. The stock tires are plenty good which helps it out for a production car.Originally posted by 01RedDX

Ford sold the live axle Mustang GT for how many years?
And Ford sold garbage mustang GT's with live axles for how many years

Not trying to troll at all. I believe Honda is so conservative these days they wouldn't want any bad publicity.Originally posted by Mibz

I'm not in for betting, just putting faith in one of my favorite auto manufacturers.

I admire the fact that you acknowledge your fanboyism, but don't apologize for it. You're probably the only fanboy on Beyond that I can have a conversation with and not want to punch in the fucking bag.Originally posted by Darkane

I wouldn't say "garbage" as the late S197's from GT w/track pack to Boss 302 could embarrass cars that cost considerably more money.Originally posted by killramos

Taken from Autoblog.....
Honda suggests that the lap was clocked while testing the stock street-legal rubber (and not on slicks) and claims that the roll cage clearly seen in the video was fitted "for safety reasons and not to add rigidity," with extraneous equipment like the front passenger seat and audio system were removed to compensate for the cage's weight.
M4 time was set by Sport Auto magazine. Production car on OEM tires (PSS). The only time cars might get special tires are manufacturer tests.Originally posted by 01RedDX

All Honda said was that it's using tires from a major European manufacturer. You can assume that means "street" rubber, or you can assume it means "R/Cup/Track" rubber. Hell, you can assume it means a Pirelli F1 tire lol.Originally posted by 88CRX

I'm making an educated guess that it's using track tires because Honda is being purposely vague about it. The nice thing about the video, is that cornering speeds are clearly displayed, and you can see the speed through the slow corners which are traction/tire limited. The CTR is taking the corners at/faster than the ZR1 record lap, which was shod on Michelin Cup tires. Whatever tires are on the CTR definitely has similar grip to Michelin Cups. The Renault Megane, which the CTR beat for FWD record, was also shod with Michelin Cups for the record run.
Honestly, if it's set on street tires, Honda would be bragging about it.

^^ thought I read honda had these tires specifically developed for the car. Could still be a cup tire as an option to the standard tire. That makes a lot more sense.

It very well could be. But that would make the comparisons to say an M4 completely invalid since an M4 would easily find 20 seconds in a lap with Cup tires.Originally posted by Darkane
