There are only 5-10 days in an entire year where you truly need AWD if you live in the city. I agree that RWD is more fun than FWD, but what AWD car is more fun to drive or less understeer prone than a CTR?

Looks much better than last gen. Interior is also much nicer. Greensburg, Indiana is where all Civic Hatchbacks are now built and was rumored to be building the CTR. I wouldn't be surprised if production cars are built in the USA not Japan.
As per Honda-Pro Jason it will be made in Japan. The left hand drive car shown in the release has a J vin number. This also lends itself to reasoning for the limited production.

You keep missing the point so I’ll try to make it easier.

I have driven it - it drives awesome on roads with no snow. You can drive it in snow but it’s not a peace car at that point.

7 months of the year it’s not a fun car because FWD and understeer and inability to have fun like AWD or RWD. So for our climate, it’s only a fun car 5/12 months. Remaining 7/12 months, it’s a civic with red carpets.
I understand the CTR is in a bit of a awkward place for us Canadians. Being a high performance FWD car, its only going to be near its full potential in Summer. So this basically raises the question why choose a FWD car as your summer car when you can have something like a Supra, S2000, C8 vette Ect ect.

The car is what it is though. I still think Honda knocked it out of the park with this 11th gen R. Keep in mind, being a limited car resale on these things could be pretty lucrative depending on the looming recession and consumer demand. In my mind getting one is a win win.

There are 0 days where you need AWD in the city. The entire winter with any snow on the ground, AWD will get you around quicker. As for which AWD cars are more fun and less understeer than a CTR, almost every single AWD car I've owned can drift through snow covered corners. The exception is our Sienna minivan, the TC system just will not let it drift at all.

Looking at my ownership history, my 911 Turbo, CLS 550, GLA45, E400, and both E53's all are drift machines with any bit of snow on the ground, and no FWD car can touch that fun. Sure you can e-brake slide any FWD car, but you can't match the feel of an AWD car sideways accelerating through a corner.

The most fun FWD experience I had was on the ghost lake ice course, in a Civic with cheater studs or whatever that griped like a motherfucker. Some sideways action through the turns, but still nothing compared to what it feels like in an AWD car.

So a $100k+ car is better than a $50k car. What AWD car are you getting for $50k, a RAV4 Hybrid? Even the Focus RS was like $60k back in 2018. I drive a AWD car in winter, it's good for traction but it's boring to drive.

A cheap ass WRX is more fun. Just because I have more expensive cars doesn't make the AWD vs FWD argument any different.

What AWD car are you driving in the winter?

How often do we get snow sticking on the road? 20 days? the rest of the days are all the same FWD or not. Your argument is that it's less fun because it's FWD. And I'm telling you that having owned one, it's very irrelevant. Without deep snow it drives better/more fun than a lot of AWD cars. ie: STI/Golf R

Limited run for 3 years. Sounds like Canada will only see 200/y, so 600 total? Absolutely collector car.

Thanks for confirming facts this car in our climate is a summer car, and once there you can have better summer cars.

I dont disagree. But you buy the car for what it is. People that cry about it being FWD has not driven the car or knows its capabilities. for those 20 days snow is sticking on the road, sure AWD is better.

Isn't the correct play to buy one of these and never drive it only to sell it on bringatrailer 30 years from now?

No. It needs to be purchased above MSRP and then driven in the worst winter conditions cause that is the most fun.

    It looks awesome.

    Rumors are:
    Made in Japan
546 units for all of Canada over 3 years. (2023 to 2026)
    325hp 309tq. (Japan spec power)
New turbo that is smaller / more responsive.

    Very limited.

May be the most powerful R ever but almost 4000lb for a FWD hatch?

EDIT: NVM, same as last model, that ain't curb.
