Its not misinformation at all. Its a limited supply car. HondaPro Jason said each dealer in the states will get maybe 2-3 CTR's each.

That's referring to 2017 models because dealers absolutely will get more than one car a year as it's got 3 years left in production under this civic platform. Many people in the US discussing dealers getting their 2nd R's in July. It's a regular production model and cars are being delivered to ports on a regular basis. They will make as many as they can sell. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Does anyone know of any dealers that have allocations that aren't already filled by pre orders?
You have no hope for a 2017. There are people that call around every dealership in their province putting their pre-orders in every dealership. The fanboys are in a frenzy. If you haven't already got your name at the top of a list resign yourself to the reality that you can get a 2018. Canadians are getting them close to the end of the 2017 model run so dealers may only get a couple 2017's.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

2016 Honda Civic Touring
Canada likely has the best Golf R pricing in the world. That's why I am driving one as it's hard to pass up based on the fact we pay the same price CDN as americans do for their R's.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Did not know this. Makes me really want to upgrade and get the R now lolThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The Golf R is an amazing price for Canada. But for most people who claim to be car enthusiasts these days, value is irrelevant lol.
I was happy to buy my Golf R lol. its such a good price how could you pass it up over a STI with 20yr old engine? Choice is obvious from a value perspective. Unless you are purely a fanboy and want to get butt raped get the Focus RS, CTR, or STI all of which sell for 5-10k more here.

Just adding the other two for comparison:This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Civic Type R
USDM $33,900
CADM $40,890
Golf R
USDM $39,375
CADM $40,695
Focus RS
USDM $36,120
CADM $48,418
STI
USDM $36,095
CADM $39,495
It's hard to compare across the border as you see how wide the swings in price are. USA has different trims, equipment in each trim, and incentives.
Also people don't buy on value alone. On Tuesday you will be able to buy a lot of Fords, Mustang included for less money here than in USA when employee pricing starts. Doesn't mean everyone will go out and get one.
I personally don't care what cars cost in USA because I don't live there. CTR is the least money out of the 4 when you compare similar trims and if Honda Canada decides to bring a base model for 2018 it will be under $40K. I would also not be surprised to see a price adjustment on the Golf R this summer for 2018 model year.

We fully expect the CTR to cost less though seeing it lacks AWD. Personally I feel the car would be a good deal at $38k CDN but not as good of a deal over $40k as it is today. There's really no equipment in this car that warrants the $40k price for a FWD car IMO. It's nicely equipped as-is but not a fully loaded car as it lacks heated seats as well as collision detection and other features that can be had in a Civic Touring. Don't get me wrong in that I like the car but I'm having a tough time figuring out how they could justify pricing it on par with AWD cars.
You forgot to include the 2015 Evo which you can still buy new. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Yes
I finally saw one in Seattle one day in white and it looks awesome. Pictures don't do justice IMO.
Nice! That's the Friendship model.
Interesting. So using C/D as a source for all, it's a fair bit faster 0-100 than a STi, Golf R, and Focus RS. Slightly slower 0-60 probably because you can't really launch it. Within 0.1sec 1/4 mile as the other cars but with a 3-4 MPH higher trap speed. Torque steer is not an issue. Significantly more grip than all the others on the skid pad. Stops 14-17ft sooner from 70MPH. Not bad for a FWD Honda with better fuel economy.
