Championship White is the only way to go on a Type R anyway.

I like the looks on it too. It's kind of a mix of European and JDM flare. It draws attention, but rightfully so being the fastest FWD car ever.

Also since I live in SW Calgary AKA Philippines I will have mad street cred in one.

Maybe Il buy one in a few years.

People in the US are paying 10k over msrp to get one.

Haven't read the whole thread, apologies if this has already been said...

Why the hell aren't they putting SH-AWD in this thing? I likely will never own another FWD car, so for that reason alone, I wouldn't consider buying a type-r... but it is attractive in almost every other respect. Granted it would bump up the price of the car, it would put it on the radar for a wider audience, put it in closer competition with Golf R, etc.

Am I out to lunch in thinking this?
Just quoting myself, cause I was about a month ahead of the curve.

Its FWD because every CTR has always been FWD. I highly doubt Honda will develop an AWD CTR, why bother. If they’re going to create an AWD Honda throw it into a new S2000 body and be done with it.

Or make an AWD Accord Type R and beyond will loose its mind! Best car ever.

It's astonishing how some will give dealers free money just to have one first. I can understand rich people that don't care dropping down cash and paying extra but a bunch of these maroons paying ADM are financing the cars which is ultra-silly.

Doubt the people actually paying that much over are financing. Probably rich kids that just DGAF with parents money.

    Dealer markup list: http://www.civicx.com/threads/honda-...hty-list.9419/

$25k listed there, Jalopnik had a dealer quote $30k ADM. Wonder who bought serial #1 for $200k. That's crack money right there.

A guy at CivicX.com showed his paperwork. Put $5k down and financed the rest at $5k over MSRP. His downpayment essentially went right into the dealer's pocket.

I can't imagine admitting to that... I am sure he will feel like a dumbass down the road

I felt compelled to post and tell him he was an idiot but I felt there's no point in ruining their happy moment. He and the others paying over ADM will realize in a year how foolish they were.

It appears the Canadian pricing has leaked; CAD$40895, plus CAD$1590 for Destination Charge. Total: CAD$42485. A little higher than I was hoping as this puts it square in STI and Golf R territory unlike the US where it undercuts them.

Nah. Value is perceived. People overpay for all kinds of stuff.

    Really cool car though.

If that is the price, that's not bad. $33,900US is about $45,000C, so if it is $40,895 that's a good price. If they do bring the base model to Canada next year it will be well under $40K.

2018 STI MSRPs are like this:
    $39,495 - Base
    $41,795 - Sport
$46,595 - Sport tech (guessing this is the closest trim to CTR equipment level)

2018 Golf R prices haven't been announced but my guess is about $45,000 for the equivalent package

2018 Focus RS is $48-50K? (granted in comes with snow tires/wheels)

Yeah. 2017 Focus is 48,400 anyway. Loaded (only option is nitrous blue) and freight it's 51,263. So 9k more! that's a very nice winter beater on top of the Type R.

If the Base R comes in at 38,500 or something - Major win.

This will definitely be interesting seeing how a $40k FWD car fares in the Canadian market. I recall Integra Type R's collecting dust at North Hill Acura in the 90's so once the initial demand subsides if this car will be successful

I remember that too .... dealers offered $5K off on those Type R (way below cost!) to move them back then, so, could get one for under $30K back then! Great deal! 200HP non turbo 20 year ago is more impressive than 300HP turbo today!

Why bring out misinformation like this (unless you are working for a Honda dealer)? This is not a limited supply car.

Yep and that was during the times where the import tuner scene was at it's peak. I don't think we will ever see these cars available $5k below MSRP but I suppose it depends on how the sales go after the hype subsides.
