Default Suspended Drivers License - Obtaining another province license while suspended

Here's another question.. Someone has a PERMIT not a full license.. gets suspended in NB for unpaid fines (you cannot get suspended in the graduated program or else you have to start all over again), and then drives.. gets charged for driving while suspended. There is now a suspension term where this person can not obtain a license until a specific date after his fines are paid. Lets say its January 2015 so a year from now. Can this person move to another province, get their residence (proof of address and employment) and then walk into their motor vehicle branch and apply for a driver's permit and just pretend they've never had a license before. All these questions are pertaining to having a suspended license and then trying to switch it over. Im talking walk in there like you're a brand new driver. Hand them your new province ID which is totally separate from your NB ID. Because I'm pretty sure the NB drivers license number is how say.. Alberta.. would know you are suspended but if you get a new drivers permit.. the number is different, therefore there would be no way to tell??? Anyone help?

Man up, accept your punishment for being dumb and breaking the law, and stop trying to find ways around it.

Of course the provinces are linked. If it was that easy, don't you think more people would do it.

    Very interesting question actually.

Let me tell you a true story.

I got a speeding fine in B.C. in the summer of '12. I'm an Alberta driver.

I tried to pay it at my local registry office in Alberta, but I couldn't. The woman helping me said that the provinces are NOT linked and I would have to contact ICBC to make the payment. So I did just that. Made the payment over the phone.

A few months ago I wanted to see what infraction I have against my licence. I pulled my abstract and that infraction was not on it so yeah it seems like they are not linked. (At least not at that time anyway.)

If I chose not to pay the fine, I was told that if I ever went back to B.C. and got pulled over, that they would run my licence and that charge would show up. But in Alberta, it would NOT show up.

Way back in high school, I knew a guy that moved to Lloydminster and had family in Saskatchewan. He ended up getting suspended or something but was still able to receive a Sask. licence.

On the other hand, you did get suspended for a reason. And it sounds like you want to move to Alberta... I dunno if I want to share the road with you. No offence.

Oh and one more thing... In order to get a licence, you have to have a residential address inside Alberta. So you actually have to live here in order to get it. Can't just come and get it, then go back to NB. And even then, after like 6 months or something, you would have to get a NB licence.

If you got suspended under the criminal code, then you have a record... which obviously shows up everywhere.

NB is worse, mostly because French kinda spills across the border.

But to answer they question, call or visit an Alberta registry. They'll be able to tell you the exact answer.

Also, you'd be bumped down to a class 7 learner if you don't hand over your NB DL. Which means no driving by yourself for a year until you can get a class 5 GDL.

When I obtained a license here, I needed to provide them with my BC abstract, which showed any infractions I believe.

Anyway, even if I could, I wouldn't help get someone on the roads here in Alberta if I knew they were a danger. And you, sir, should not be driving.

Provinces aren't linked for fines and demerits. You can be suspended from driving in one province and not have that affect your province of residence.

That said, applying for a new license is linked, and checked, and you can not simply apply like it's your first time. (unless you get lucky and the registry doesn't do it's job, in which case you will still get a GDL and cant drive anyways)
