I haven't kept up with computers for the past while and it seems like a lot has changed (WTF is an ultrabook), so I'm in need of a new computing device but not sure what I need exactly.

I would like it to be 14" or smaller, prefer a dedicated GPU (won't do much gaming, maybe CS once in a while and some others, nothing extreme though), now as for ram and processors I'm not sure what I need or where to set my minimum requirements as.

The 2 laptops I am considering are;

MSI 2OC-010US

ASUS G46VW-DS71

I chose those 2 because of their screen sizes and the specs that they have, but I think they might be overkill for what I need. Most of the other laptops in the 14" range seem to lack a dedicated GPU and have the 'U' processors, which from my googling tells me its more efficiency orientated instead of performance.

So now my questions are, is the jump in price from an i5 to an i7 worth it, is there a big difference between the 3rd and 4th gen Intel processors, how much ram is enough for normal usage (internet browsing, occasional gaming, word processing, no video editing or anything of that nature).

Any insight or opinions on the 2 laptops I posted is appreciated
