... the day I get it home it looks like shit as soon as we put a few plates on it.
The wife and I were cruising around commenting on how we needed a new coffee table, but since our wedding is this coming May we decided to see if we could get by with something fairly inexpensive until after that money-sink... err, I mean wedding... has been paid for.
So, we got this piece of shit: http://www.surplusfurniture.com/en/c...ee-table-set/.
Now, it looks pretty nice but up close you can see how the finish scratches off easily. What I'm wondering is if there is some kind of coating I could grab from Lowes or Home Depot (or whatever) to apply on top to at least keep it looking decent for the 6 months or so that we'll use it.
Is there some kind of clear coat or whatever that would do the job?
I already put this junk together and don't feel like tearing it all down to take it back, and to be honest, at $250 it's not really worth the hassle.
