My company started not giving raises this year. Started laying people off and moving people around the company too.

Needless to say, I looked for new work. I handed in my resignation letter today, and I start at a new place shortly

OP, get your certs and get outta there ASAP!

I would change company if I had better certifications (in IT) but im still studying for those.
Sounds to me like you might not be worth a raise at this time. Every time I've wanted a raise, it boiled down to me taking the initiative, and tying my training and responsibilities to a specific amount.

If you want inflationary raises, join a union....

I would quit any job that wouldn't match inflation.

If I were you I would be looking for something else right away after a conversation like that.

you wouldn't happen to work for AHS eh?...Contradictory to what the public believes...there will actually be a claw back from employer on wages. Where is that golden shake that everyone is saying?

This x2. You're actually working for less money now than what you were hired for. You're experienced in that position and have been contributing to the success of that company, so you're worth less? If you were a shit employee they would have shown you the door long ago. You're probably a good employee, they just have absolutely no respect for you and they'll grind you because you take it. Don't give another second of your time to that company. This is basically another card in the race to the bottom game. Stop playing.

If you're not getting a cost of living raise every year, you're literally making less money every year you work there. Unless its providing you some great experience, or can't get a comparable wage elsewhere I'd start looking asap...

Sounds like where I work. After one year they gave me a 3% increase which only adds up to around $1100/yr or $100/month.
